Talk about heart tugging!

Don's brother Eddie was killed in the Vietnam war in November 1967 aged 22.

Don still remembers being at home as a 7 year old and people from the American Embassy coming to his house to break the news. His parents....well, you can imagine.

Our lads are still trying to find a way for us all to get together to have Eddie's 3 medals given to Cork museum.

So Jacob today was googling the Vietnam war memorial where Eddie's name is etched and just having a nosey about the uncle he never got to meet.

The power of the internet (or not!) directed him to this photo......

This is Don's brother in combat just weeks before his death.

We are stunned by how alike our Conor is to him.

Amazing find Ally as you say was it the internet that guided Jacob there, or some other divine power

Absolutely.

Don was really upset at first seeing the photo  ....

.....think us going to New York next year will be 'healing' for him as this was Eddie's first stop in America.

The internet is just such an amazing thing. I can't even begin to imagine what must have gone through Don's mind when he saw the photo; I gather it's a photo you never even knew existed?

There's no mistaking that he's a Scully is there!

Have you got any plans to visit the memorial while you're in the US? DC is a nice train ride from Penn Station.

I was in Washington in May 1988 visiting my friend and he took me to the memorial. It was very moving.

Little did I realise 5 months later I would meet and marry a man whose brother's name is etched onto that very wall.

We will definitely be getting the train to there Jo as it's something Don has wanted to do for years.

Con and Judy went in 1992 and I know they were both very moved. X

Ria... no, we didn't know this photo existed. It has shaken Don up seeing it but he's said he's glad he now knows it's there.

(I'm wondering who took it and if there are any more.)

I had never seen a photo of my dad as a child until after he died when my cousin sent me one of him, aged about five, with his older brothers! I think I've posted it here, a few years back. The amazing resemblance to my Harry at the same age made me burst into tears!

I really feel for Don, and hope this trip will help to heal his hurt ((((x))))
