The car key saga.

Postby Workingman » 21 Dec 2018, 11:11

I am sat at the computer when I see my neighbour leave his flat carrying two bags, obviously presents, with is son in tow.

He points the key at the car: Nothing. He puts the bags down and tries again: Nothing. He goes to the back of the car: Nothing. He forcefully jabs the key at the car: Nothing. To the front, to the side, gently, forcibly.... all to no effect. He goes back inside and emerges with another key: again nothing.

His dad then comes out and tries both keys to no avail, so he gets in the car via the hidden manual lock in the passenger door handle and tries to start the car - flat battery. Old dad then gets his car and they do the jump leads thing to star the car.

It has now been running for a few minutes, but I can feel a new battery coming on. That's quite an expensive shock so near to Christmas. Poor sods.

Sadly is is going to cost them as batteries are not cheap.

But it was funny watching the stabbing of the key at the car and the very forceful pressing of the key fob. It was a bit like the old adage that if a foreigner does not understand then shout, then shout louder.

Oh that's a shame, not an expense anyone wants at anytime but money's that bit tighter for many at Christmas isn't it.

Joe rang John the other week saying he had a warning light coming on in his car. A bit of Googling discovered that it was the battery...the battery in the keyfob, that is, so just a fiver to replace thankfully.
