Hello
My spontaneity knows no bounds!!
I finished work on Thursday and met Don for a beer and a bite to eat and was telling him that I'd spoken to mum earlier that day and she was saying that the birthday cards I'd posted in Nottingham for dad had arrived - when I came up with the mad idea of perhaps flying over to see dad. (and mum )
When I got home I looked on tinterweb and lo and behold a cheap flight was leaving Malaga on the Friday night and returning late Sunday...so I booked my tickets.
I rang mum to make sure they were going to be in, jumped into a taxi when I got to Glasgow and the look on dad's face when he answered the door was absolutely priceless!
I had a lovely day with them on Saturday...the weather, although cold, was bright and sunny, and we went down Clydeside, had a nice mooch in a garden centre and stopped for lunch on the way home.
Mum made a delicious steak pie for dinner Saturday night and dad and I went to the local pub for a couple of pints of 'heavy'.
Sunday birthday boy was 81 and my aunty Maureen came over and the four of us went to a lovely restaurant for lunch. All the boys called their grandad at various times during the day which was nice.
I flew home last night and Don met me at the airport.
A thoroughly mad 48 hours but such fun.
I've been for a run this morning, the weather is beeyootiful and am now enjoying a coffee and a rest!
