Can I ask has anyone out there actually made one?
I think I may have a possible claim, and that nice Mr Martin Lewis at moneysupercalifragilisticexpert . com says you're daft if you don't get it in before the August deadline …..

Nothing to lose Ossie, why not go for it. I do know of someone who got a decent payout, but they did it themselves, rather than using one of the firms that take a cut.
However, my friend Emma was chased for ages by one of said firms, who swore she was due something, so she eventually gave in and it was a complete waste of time in the end

My eldest daughter claimed a few years ago, think she did it on her own. She got £4000 back.

We tried last year, we clearly remember being told that the PPI needed to be taken out with the mortgage application when we bought our house in 1994.
We had a letter back from Nationwide saying sorry blah blah blah but there was no evidence of misselling but hey, have a cheque of £540 as a gesture of goodwill.
Then a few months later came another cheque for £72 because they'd reviewed the claim and while they still couldn't find any evidence they were making a further payment to us.
Nope, doesn't make any sense to me either.

I did via Fast Track Reclaim; they send you a whole lot of forms (one each per possible lender) that you just sign and return and then leave the rest up to them. I got some money back from Barclays (I think it was) and they kept a certain percentage. The easiest £300 I every got
Karl and Nadine got loads more from Barclays but from memory they either approached the bank direct or the bank approached them.
So definitely go for it - you've got nothing to lose

I should've said that we did our claim online, direct though Nationwide's website.

We got some money back.
It was an insurance policy through M& S for the loss of credit cards and keys. This was several years ago. Filled the forms in myself and soon got the cheque back.
No longer have the policy after bad publicity.

I got some back through Lloyds credit card, same sort of thing, an insurance thing to cover keys, holidays, etc.
Best of it was I didn't do anything, they just sent it to me.
I contacted Nationwide but they say we didn't have PPI and we have only ever had one loan and I rang them and they looked into it.
So sadly I dont think we are due a windfall

Well thanks, all! Great to read most of you got refunds.
I've downloaded and filled in the paperwork and handed it into the local branch of the relevant bank today, so I'll now wait on events!
