…. in the garden this afternoon and anauer was about enough for Mrs O and I. It's all that bending over when you're planting and weeding.

Still, got four small troughs planted out with bedding petunias, clipped back the holly to give the other shrubs around it a chance, staked up the bamboo, planted all the winter hyacinths and snowdrops we've had in the house out in the bulb plot where they can survive or not until next autumn, taken out a few dead shrubs at the front, decimated the dandelions in the lawn, and planted the Gigantomo:

How's your garden looking?

It will be well worth it ossie when summer kicks in I really need a pile of new gravel as cats have scratched it all over but the tubs look ok with the daffs and room for some bedding plants later just geraniums and African marigolds and blue lobiel front is all lawn need to zap the danelions tho it's nice to get in the garden tho

I though that you were on about the former German chancellor Konrad Adenauer!

I like the look of that Gigantomo ... a few slices with a bit of salt and a dash vinegar on buttered crusty bread would make a nice lunch.

Ours isn't too bad! I've planted the tubs with geranium and pansies, and treated the wooden furniture with teak oil. The paving could do with a bit of a clean, so we'll be borrowing D's pressure washer sometime soon. The grass will need another mowing this weekend!

The front is all gravel, paving, trees and iron railings, so that takes care of itself

We've just picked a load of broad beans which are now in the freezer and a lot of onions, red and white.

We 'ad another auer in the garden this morning. Got the rest of the busy lizzies and petunias in at the front, and cleaned the washing line thus causing great consternation to countless Dorset spiders. We are trying to be fairly quiet as we have a blackbird on a nest in the thorn bush which is unfortunately right next to the bin shed. We also put a climbing rose "Gertrude Jeckyll" in at the bottom of the garden,

Just to prick Ossie's bubble a bit, it doesn't look like the winter garlic, which is due to be harvested soon, has done anything - a lot of growth but they just look like glorified spring onions, no cloves. I don't think I'll bother with them next year.

And our neighbour currently has a marvellously abundant and colourful profusion of pansies in her lawn! The trouble is, we bought hardy panola plants (pansy x viola cross) two winters' back for our front border and we reckon they've flippin' well reverted to type and self-propagated next door .......

It really is! We've been to David Austin a few times when we've been to Cosford. Must revisit soon, I had some lovely roses at our old house but none here. One was an Alexander which my Mom bought me just after Tom was born (Alexander is his middle name, she couldn't find a 'Tom' rose) and it was the most beautiful colour.

We went to Boscobel House and White Ladies Priory this afternoon and the map outside recommended David Austin Roses as somewhere else to visit in the area
