Disaster!

I was painting the stairwell walls and had put covers down to protect the carpet, as you do. I had just finished washing the skirting boards and lining them with masking tape so was ready to go.

The paint and brush were in the kitchen and as I left the stairs I disturbed the covers but thought it would be OK to redo them once I had the paint. BIG MISTAKE!

Coming back with paint and brush I stumbled on the damned covers and when trying to stop myself from falling I spilt the paint. It could have gone anywhere, but no, it zoomed in with pinpoint accuracy to the uncovered part of the carpet!

Thank goodness I have insurance.

Oh no Frank, that's not good. Are you OK though; you haven't hurt yourself? Carpet can be replaced, you can't ! x

Hi Ria, thanks for asking. The only thing that's hurt is my pride. All I had to do was straighten the covers before getting the paint, but I played the lazy man instead. Hindsight eh?

It won't happen again.... until the next time.

Glad you're okay though. Put a rug over the carpet ;)

No dear WM not good
Might be cheaper to buy new carpet if you have to pay a claim payment of the insurance

No Shell, I didn't really want a new carpet, but TBH the old one was on its last legs.

Saundra, the excess is £100 so still a fair bit to pay. With that I have decided to get the lounge done as well, which makes the fitting free for both.

Tough luck, Frank; isn't it just "Murphy's Law" that something like that always happens?

No, Ossie, It was a combination of Murphy's and Sod's laws.

Murphy's says that what can go wrong will go wrong. Sod's says that Murphy's will always happen at the worst possible time.

I was due a landlord's annual inspection this week. Thankfully my long-term landlords are very understanding - and forgiving. :D
