The router saga

After spending over 3 hours on the phone the other week, speaking to about 20 different people, being cut off when I was being transferred to yet another department, being told that the router is out of warranty  and I will therefore have to pay for a new one, being told that I had to take it down to either Albufeira or up to Beja, to get a free replacement

Last Tuesday, Jan very kindly took me down to Albufeira, to the meo shop, as I didn't have a clue where it was. Spent half an hour waiting to be seen, only to be told that they don't carry replacement :o :cute: :cute: and I would have to have a technician come to the house  This would happen within 7 working days. Lost my temper a little and explained what had been happening, just got the shoulder shrug  She got the technical department to ring me there and then and I was waiting to be told when the technician was come to see me, when I was yet again, cut off. By this time, Jan had come back and she went into outraged Portuguese lady mode     Rather a scary sight

The upshot was I filled in the complaints book. Now, this is very very serious in Portugal. It goes against the company, black marks all round and sometimes, it is deemed so serious, the police are called.

In my case, I had a phone call within the hour, from a very apologetic young man, in perfect English. And although I had to go through the whole rigmarole, nif number, address, problem, he promised me a new router would be delivered, to my door, within 4 days.

It arrived at the bar yesterday :Hi: :Hi:

Which is the best place to be to give it a trial run for an hour or so. ;)

But hell's bells Jan, that is ridiculous customer service ... it makes Virgin, BT and TalkTalk look top class!

Just a thought. Can you get hold of and use a bog-standard router as we can in the UK? There are plenty of models not locked to a particular ISP with WiFi, cable and fibre capabilities, and some of the modern ones can even act as mobile signal boosters.

I keep an old Netgear one in the cupboard just in case the phone company one fails - as does happen.

That's very interesting about the "Complaints Book", Jan. Over here, of course, you can keep complaining until you're blue in the face, and it's just "More than My Job's Worth" ….

Every establishment Ossie, be it a restaurant, café, shop, has to, by law, have one of these.

Even the health service

What made me laugh, they sent me an e-mail :? and me, without internet

If I have a complaint I send an email and sometimes a letter to the CEO if I do not get action quickly. I also give thanks when I get good service. As an example I ordere something on line on Wednesday afternoon.
It was delivered the follwing day as it said on the email confirming the order.
