Winter cookathon.

It's cooling down so I did a cookathon at the weekend - 5 chicken chasseur, 4 braised beef, 4 spagbol, 4 chicken curries and 4 chilli-con-carne. Three weeks of main meals, including spuds, veg, pasta and / or rice to go with.

I usually have milky porridge or weetabix with fruit juice for breakfast and a ham / chicken, tinned salmon / mackerel, cheese or egg salad for lunch. An apple or pear, banana, nuts, yoghurt and copious amounts of coffee complete the day.

According to my receipts I spent £81.31 for three weeks of food. It took a few hours on Sunday afternoon but everything is now in the freezer ready for the daily ping machine routine. ;) :D :D

Very commendable, WM!! :D

We only usually have "proper" meat once a week these days, for Sunday dinner. So we have recently stocked the freezer with enough lamb chops, pork chops and chunky chicken breasts to provide for 9 meals for us. The cost from the local independent butchers was around the £40 mark.

I don't bother with breakfast, but we invariably have a round of coffee mid-morning, a caffetiere (sp?) so 2 mugs each, and I usually have a small fruit bun to go with it. :lol:

Well done WM I have toast or porridge for breakfast
Toastie or soup for lunch
Proper cooked tea in winter salad stuff I summer or jacket potato / cheese or fish
I'm easy to please these days
I did roast dinner yesterday and going to use slow cooker tomorrow

Saundra, you'll know this, but prepping and cooking for one every day is a right chore, and then comes all the washing up and wiping down afterwards. It's why I do batches.

I had friends round for lunch on Saturday and had to take some meat out the freezer to make space for ice cream... not sure what cut it was, think it was ox cheek. I made a curry in the slow cooker; and even if I say so myself, it turned out rather delicious - 10 hours on low made it so very very tender. Got 6 portions all in all - not bad! :D

Oh and two portions of butternut risotto left as well - so that's a good few lunches sorted

Agree with the batch cooking thing Frank - last thing I'd want to do when I get home is cook and then still have to clean up. So main meal for me is at lunch and then just a snack when home in the evenings. :lol:

Yes at times I can't be bothered WM I don't like ready meals from shops so my slow cooker is brilliant hate washing up :lol:

All sounds delish Frank :D Doreen batch cooks too, far more sensible when cooking for one ;)
