Good morning.

Yesterday's showery rainfall was pathetic but it's made up for it through the night.

When I awoke this morning it was thunder and lightening. This has now stopped but it's gloomy looking and rain forecast. Some parts of northern Spain and Costa Blanca have been hit by storm Gloria and I believe there have been fatalities.

Usual 2 hours for me, exams, then nipping out for brunch.

Work 4 - 7 then meeting Don for pre-weekend beers and a bite to eat.

Thick fog this morning Can't see the bottom of the drive

The rain we were supposed to get yesterday didn't arrive and although we're supposed to get some today, I can't see the sky

He's much better, thanks Ally. Just a blip. He forgets he's 73 this year

My plan was to go into Ourique this morning, go to the library and hopefully find some books I haven't read, get the stuff in Pingo I forgot yesterday - even though it was on the list - and then pop into see Jan and her mum on the way back. We'll see if the fog lifts first.

Good morning, it’s foggy here too. We thought we might have Kellie early today as she was off school sick yesterday, but apparently she announced this morning that she was well enough to go to school, so I will collect her at the usual time. I’m going to the gym this morning for a new class I’ve started called Pre Hab, all about stretching and flexibility. I enjoyed it last week. Then usual Thursday with Michael and Kellie.

Good morning all, it's Day 3 of fog today.

I'm having a lazy day. My throat started to feel a bit scratchy yesterday afternoon and by evening it was very sore. John came home from work coughing and sneezing, he's finally succumbed to the office cold by the looks of it. We went to the cinema to see Bombshell (which was excellent) and then popped to Asda which is nearby but they didn't have anything I wanted - the cold remedy section was looking very bare - so detoured to Tesco and got First Defence, Strepsils and Chloroseptic which has helped.

I think I'm going to have a TV day, it's a rarity that the TV goes on during the day but so far I've watched Everybody Loves Raymond and Frasier and now I'm watching Big Bang Theory

Yesterday was a long day, but the actual travel went really well, all the trains slotted together without too much waiting around. We were absolutely shattered by the time we got home though. The last time E saw a consultant for his hip, 6 years ago, he was told to soldier on with painkillers as the risk involved with his medical history was too high to operate. This time a different outcome, yes the risks are higher than average, but they specialize in complex cases so it's not something they feel unable to cope with. E's xray prompted the radiologist to exclaim 'that's one very sore hip' and when I commented E's not one to complain the consultant said that's patently obvious! There was a discussion with two consultants and they both recommended surgery. Obviously we discussed all the what if's and so on and were assured even worst case scenario isn't necessarily quite as drastic as we'd been told previously. E will be getting a letter to arrange a bone density scan and more blood tests which will determine if the op needs a few tweaks. So he's on the list, the wait is around 4/5 months so should slot in after our trip to Barbados. I'm sure there will be a few wobbles before then, but E came away feeling quite reassured and is happy to go ahead. Overall a good day.

Just been to have my 3 monthly blood test. Will be off out again shortly, weekly shop so M&S then Tesco.

Greetings all.... gone midday again; time is flying by

Jen, glad the appointment gave you some answers and hopefully the op will be a success and E pain free very soon; it really can't be easy for him - poor man! I know when my mom had her hip done it made the world of difference to her.

Dull and grey here today as well; which is fine - I'm in the office. Saturday is meant to be dry and sort of sunny so I'm hoping to get a few things done in the garden.

We had leaving drinks for a colleague last night - someone remind me next time to leave earlier than I did - usually when out in London during the week I try and leave by 8.30 so I'm home around 9.45; but yesterday I stayed an hour longer which meant home that hour later - not good when the alarm goes off at 5.30am! So tonight will be straight home and early to bed!

Jan, given the amount of books in your store area, I'm not sure there are many books left that you haven't read yet!

We've experienced similar with the boys. A surgeon refused point blank to do the surgery on Tom as he thought it too risky yet we saw a different surgeon with Joe (same condition, same op needed) at a different hospital and within 5 minutes of walking into his office he was talking us through what he'd do, reassuring us that it was an op he'd done on a number of occasions with no problems, and trying to work out a timescale to fit around Joe's education.

Good afternoon everybody.
Went to the dentistthis morning for 6 monthly check up. He said one filling had moved in one of the back teeth and I had chipped one of the front ones.
So had the back filling reseated and a small filling in the front one. That was afer a scrap and polish. No extra charge as the dental practice only has private patients now and we pay monthly.
Dentis who has been treating us for many years said I have very good teeth considering my age.
Then went to the bank and bought some birthday cards before coming home for lunch.
Ben pootling snce lunch. Have put some things in the boot of the car as we will be going past the dump tomorrow on our way to do some retail therapy. The ground floor of a former textile mill is now a large retail outlet.
Have just paid for our next cruise in May.
Jen, Hope the hip op goes well. Mrs.e has not had any problems after she had a new hip fitted after her fall at the end of March this year. It was not planned nd uses a walking stick if te pavements are uneven.

Hi everyone!

Have had a good day today. I'd been fretting and worrying about getting to a hotel for the lovely spa day booked by Jen for my Christmas gift - it's up towards Newcastle and A1 all the way, I am not good driving on Mways. I needed to leave at 9ish, got a text from Tom, and ultimately, he ended up taking me, which was a LOAD off my mind, so I could fully enjoy my time with my girl!! We had a back massage and a facial, not had the latter before, but it was extremely relaxing. We started off in the lovely warm jacuzzi and pool.....she did a few lengths and I faffed about

After, we went to a nearby shopping centre for a spot of lunch (cake!) and coffee, and then a look round the shops, till Tom came back for me around 3.30.....soooo nice to be looked after like that. Really grateful he could help out.

I got a result when doing an online chat with TalkTalk, which for the most part this week, I have not had any joy.....and finally the replacement box they are sending out won't cost me, and it was the easiest conversation ever!

Jo hope you don't end up poorly, get that sore throat better fast!

Ria I thought you were going to say you had one drink too many last night! Glad that wasn't the case...you'll be tired tonight!!

Ally I saw the horrible weather on the news in Spain, I did wonder if you might be affected. Hope not!
