Eat your heart out Jamie Oliver

Postby JanB » 07 Apr 2020, 20:01

I know he's doing a make do programme with what's in your cupboards, for meals. He's not my favourite chef and we watched one episode

Tonight I did him proud.

Half a jar of chick peas, six mushrooms, leftover chicken from Sunday, half a chorizo from last week, which I fried, garlic and made a bog standard white sauce, but added herbs.

Cooked the mushrooms in butter and the oil from the chorizo, added the rest and put it all on top of the last of the tagliatelli.

Give that girl a cookery programme. You won't find that in the ready meal cabinets as you will with the glop the professionals do.

We don't cook what's on their shows, we just go find a ready meal version.

I'm actually quite enjoying watching the programme, esp since the lock down and he's filming himself (with the help of his wife) and the kids are involved... his olders son has amazing culinary skills for his age and just goes to show that kids can do so much more than modern parents give them credit for. Admittedly he has a larder most of us can only dream of; no way would I, or most people, have in stock what he has, but he's always quick to point out alternatives that can be used

but your dinner sounds delicious Jan - chicken with chorizo and 'shrooms - what's not to love about that :D

We have a chicken pie for tonight and Ria, you have just reminded me that we also have some mushrooms. Excellent!

I could happily live on mushrooms.

Crommers, I might make a chicken pie seeing as I’ve just had some flour delivered.

You are doing well to get some Jo, I've loked the last couple of times I've been out and about but no joy.
