The VV Hug Room....

Postby Ally » 18 Apr 2020, 22:27

....if anyone needs a hug then please join me!

Don's just had to give me a massive cuddle as I've had a wobble. :?

We'd just finished watching a lovely film on BBC 2 and as is usual Don flicked the news on before we head up to bed.

Donald Chump was on (that man is dangerous imo!!) and then the strapline came up. Breaking News that Spain was in lockdown until May 9 which is another 3 weeks.

I read the Spanish newspapers. I watch the Spanish news. It was to be expected.

But to have it confirmed just made me burst into tears. :(

So......I'm in here and will gratefully accept a hug and willingly give one back. xxx

Of course you can have a hug Ally (((((Ally))))) and so can anyone else who needs one (((((All))))). These are tough times, but we must stay strong and support each other as best we can.

On Thursday our lockdown in the UK was extended to May 7th, and even that might be optimistic, but it is what it is.

I am hoping that when we come out the other side we will be a lot more of a caring and understanding society than we used to be. The signs are there when you look at the volunteers and the likes of Capt. Tom Moore and ever so many others. We need to grab a hold of this new community spirit and never, ever, let it go. Glass half full here.

My glass is always more than half full Frank. :D

I know exactly why I wobbled.

Like everyone else I'm missing my family. I'm missing the twins just popping over whenever they want and I'm sure as hell missing their fantastic big bear hugs.

Two weeks Tuesday is the first anniversary of mum passing away. I thought I would've been at work which would have helped (even a tiny bit) to keep my mind occupied. But due to lockdown I'll be at home so I know I'll have more time to mull. If that makes sense.

I'm also desperate to see dad. Even if I knew I could book a flight and just have a date to see him that would be so good.

Like I say, it's the same for everyone but mum's anniversary is definitely on my mind and compounding things.

And a hug from us both here too xx

I think our President and Prime Minister have been on the ball since the first indication of it hitting here and even the opposition are agreeing with them, about the lockdown and extensions.

The local community spirit has always been good here, the local firms chipping in with help for the bombeiros etc, so I think it will just carry on here.

Our lockdown will be discussed again at the end of April, but may be lifted for certain jobs and for them to return to work, but in stages and at different times. We'll know more later this month.

As regards to family, of course we're all in the same boat, but because we're here and they're there, we've got used to it so keep in touch as normal, via skype, messenger etc.

Eldest son and family had intended to come over, as had Julia and family this year, but I can't see that happening until next year now.

Lots of hugs to everybody.

Am fed up of the news and repeats on TV. Will soon be starting the second house clean. No gardening as I can't buy any plants.

Have a huge massive (((((((((((((((hug)))))))))))))) from me. This stuff is all so grim, and scary. Like you, I'm a glass-half-full girl, but none of us have gone through anything like this before, and I'm really finding it hard, worrying about family and all my loved ones.

A hug from me too. (())

We live a life away from the family and the family is spreading around the globe, so we are used to distance. We had just seen half the family before heading for France and lock down, so the wish to see them is not too great right now.

Our main worry is my work, I will not get back to work until full resumption and, even then, it may take a while.

Other than that, Mrs S is quite content because I'm at home all the time.

Another glass half full person here and doing quite well with it although I do have days when I feel down. That monster in the White House is so obviously completely out of his depth plus being high as a kite all the time, I am amazed that there are so many Americans who think he is wonderful  Our next date here for reconsideration of restrictions is May 5th, so we shall see what happens.

Can I give you a personal upside though? You know they say that you allow 6 weeks to fully recover after surgery, well I am four weeks in now and yesterday I was saying to Edward that it has been nice to recover at leisure rather than be under pressure to get out and about and back to normal. I am a huggy person so am happy to join in the group hug.
