Face Masks

I have a strong suspicion that it will become compulsory to start wearing face masks when out and there is a chance of close(r) proximity to people, ie shopping, public transport etc.... but not when out walking your dog where you can step aside to keep the 2m distance

How many of you wear a face mask now and what type is it? I really struggle with anything covering my nose / mouth and am dreading having to wear one for quite a bit of the time; so just wondering what type may be best

I have made one from a large man's handkerchief and two elastic bands. You lie it out flat, fold both edges towards the middle, then repeat. Put an elastic band over each end, a couple of inches in, then tuck the edges over the bands, into the pocket formed by folding. It does stay on well.

I sympathise Ria, I put mine on in the queue outside the supermarket, but by the time I got to the till after completing my shopping I did feel a little light-headed :? Can't be helped though :?

Hate the one's we have at the moment, but hopefully, when Joquinha comes up tomorrow, we'll have the breathable one's.

It's a very odd experience, but believe it or not, you do get used to it.

As we were only told last Friday that we had to wear them as from Monday, think we've all done very well.

It is only for when in shops - although I noticed Nelson is still not wearing one when we saw him on Wednesday.

I wore one yesterday from the car to the hospital, a paper one. Problem is, my glasses kept fogging up. I don’t wear one when we are out walking.

We have a couple of snoods.
Plus I have ordered some face masks on line, should they ever arrive.

That's my problem with the one I'm using Osc.

Even worse when it's so hot here anyway.

Interesting topic, Meriad!

I don't wear one, and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so. I wouldn't wear one unless it became compulsory, to be honest. I'd prefer to maintain the 2m distancing, but I guess I'll have to accept that the Government may relax that, and there are more than a few people out there now who don't seem to care about distancing anyway.

I wouldn't know where to buy one from or how effective different types are. And seeing this latest fiasco about PPE from Turkey being next to useless, well, it doesn't inspire me with confidence about them.

Mrs O and I have discussed adapting ones from old cravats / scarves she has, so I guess if the worst came to the worst ….. :|

Our farmacias sell them but so far I haven't worn one.

It's only been since Saturday I've been out and about exercising and at 7am there's not many peeps about. :D

If we have to wear them in the future so be it.

We have got some from one of the TV shopping channels-TJC. They also sell hand sanitiser.
Sent for some more on Wednsday. It shows how they are made. There are three layers of different material.
Not worn any yet but have now got a good supply if we have to wear them when shopping.
