What's your Fave Christmas Tipple?

Postby Kaz » 26 Nov 2012, 17:44

I was just thinking - as I do very occasionally :P - and wondering what you all like to drink at Christmas? I've just bought some Jack Daniels for one BIL and a good bottle of red for another, some Irish Whiskey for Mick but the choice out there is amazing! Half of it I.'ve never heard of - what is Disorono (spl?) anyway?? LOL

So your fave then? :D

I'm not a big drinker. I tend to have a sherry a couple of times a week, but at Christmas I like Stone's Ginger Wine :D

Disaronno is yummy - it's Amaretto liqueur, ie almond flavoured and really nice either neat or on ice.

Personally I'm quite partial to a good wine or sparkling wine or if it's really chilly out there then a nice ruby or tawny port

I'm dreadful with port...my mum and I once spent Boxing day afternoon eating a whole baby brie and drinking a whole bottle of port :D Actually we were fine, no doubt all that cheese helped, and it was over quite a few hours.
My dad on the other hand, once asked a friend of his how long port would keep once opened - the friend looked at me and said, about 2 hours in my house :D

So yes, I do buy a bottle at Christmas - just the one lol, and no, I no longer drink it all at once ;)
Amaretto is useful as it's lovely poured over ice cream too.
Bb loves a coffee cream liqueuer, which he has in coffee. There was one made by Tia Maria, called Tia Lusso, but they seem to have stopped making it. The last couple of years we've had a chocolate one, very cheap from Tesco ;)
Oh and we do always have Champagne, although lately rather like Prosecco just as much.
