It's madness!!!

Apparently there were mile long queues waiting to get into Ikea, much as I like some of their stuff, what a waste of time. Surely nothing's that desperate :?

Loopy! There was a huge queue on the retail park near here, for the drive-thru Starbucks last week  Who could be that desperate for a coffee and a muffin? :?

Saundra, I haven't been in a McDonald's since the kids were little, it's not my kind of food either :) xx

We take the kids sometimes as they love it - their coffee is surprisingly good too, but I'd never queue for long to get one!!

I have been alive for about 25,000 days and I reckon that I have had fewer than 50 McDs, KFCs or BKs put together, and I have not had more than a handful of cups of Costa, Nero or Starbuck's brown water. I simply do not like their stuff.

If you avoid the usual burgers, McDonalds have some nice food. The sweet chilli wrap with grilled chicken is good, and Tom used to bring leftovers home when he worked there and the Chicken Selects were always welcome. Unlike the pulped chicken that make up nuggets these are pieces of chicken breast.
And like Gal said, the coffee is very good.

But nah, I wouldn’t queue for long for any of them. I honestly don’t understand why people are doing this, why they’re so desperate for their burgers or a latte or their Ikea fix that they’re prepared to queue for hours.

I wanted a cupboard from Ikea to match the one that Tom didn’t want in his room anymore, it looks good in the hall but doesn’t give us quite enough storage.
Within 3 minutes I found it on Ikea’s website, ordered it and set up a delivery date for next week.

People are desperate for anything to divert them. Mrs S has been watching some broadcast TV recently and I can say that the total crap that is being put in the adverts as "shutdown TV" is enough to drive any sane person to complete distraction.

I assume that they have absolutely nothing else to distract themselves with so are willing to wait hours for any new and novel experience.

When did we suddenly cease to be able to amuse ourselves to this degree?

Personally I'm OK with McD's but then I just prefer food and I don't believe that presentation adds to flavour or, in general, detracts from flavour. Also if you have spent decades living in hotels, you sincerely appreciate the ability to turn up, order your food, eat it and leave, without a 20 minute wait for someone to bother to get you your bill. Every single day.
