My barbers has now announced he's taking bookings from 4 July for key workers and 6 July for the rest of us. Strict appointments, keep to time, wait outside to be called in and ..... facemasks are going to be mandatory.

Have any of your hairdressers issued any pronouncements about wearing face masks? I'd be interested to know what other salons are doing.

Neither Mrs O nor I particularly want to wear a face covering. I think the upshot is going to be that neither of us will be going for a trim anytime soon. So long as we can keep it reasonably tidy ....

Ossie my hairdresser phoned a couple of weeks ago to say she would be starting on 7 July and has booked me in for 2pm. She will be in full PPE as advised by the hairdressers federation and all clients must wear a face mask. She did say she will be stocking disposable ones for anyone who arrives without.

I have an appointment for the 8th of July. Shereen will be in PPE, and I have washable facemasks.

Ossie, I know you hate masks, but honestly, you really get used to them quite quickly.

I really can't say I was too happy today, as the temperature hit 40C and I'm sat in a tent wearing a mask, but hey ho.

Yes I have to wear one for my appointment. Cant say I like them much I have to wear one at work now if I am in front of patients, they make me dizzy, I don't think I breathe properly. But my hair needs cutting so mask it is

MrsC's hairdresser has said they will be charging £5 more than before the shutdown, because clients will be given a temperature test and a disposable gown etc when they go. They will also be staying open much later to try and reduce the backlog. They will be cutting the hair of those who were booked in before the lockdown first, which seems to be very fair.

Personally I think there will be some foul play afoot when the hairdressers reopen. Nothing stands in the way of a woman who wants her hair doing...

I don't have a hairdresser, I have clippers.

I do not get all the fuss. It's hair. It grows so you cut it: it grows again.

OK if it has gone too far cut it yourself, a knife and fork will do the job. Yes it will be a mess, so dye it and gel it, become a punk for a month or so, it will grow back. The zombie look could be in for a while, why miss out?

Imagine the admiring looks as you walk down the street in your pale pink jacket and skirt with cream handbag and matching shoes all topped off with this spiky head, dark eyes with shadows and black lippy - you'll look gor-jows, as wor Cheryl would say.

My hairdresser has said on Facebook that a mask must be worn but they’ll have some available for anyone who doesn’t have one, and I’ve just made an appointment and she said that guidelines are that they must wash your hair so no dry cuts.
