Remember my fine for not paying congestion charge on time

well, I decided to email Sadiq Khan saying that I thought it was rather unreasonable of them to not extend the payment period given the circumstances. As it is now, you can pay before the day you're travelling, then on the day and the day after. Then it's straight to a penalty notice of £160 reduced to £80 if you pay within 40 days.

In my email I admitted that I was in the wrong but asked that they take into consideration that we were being asked to not use public transport if at all possible and that it would be fairer to give a week to pay, increasing the amount due every day, so (at the time) £11.50 before or on the day, then £15 the following day... and then increase it by £10 for every day that you haven't paid for a week and then issue the PCN. Well, the email was forwarded to TFL and I received an email back asking for more details about the PCN number and my car registration. I replied - again admitting I was wrong etc.... - but never heard anything back... until Sunday that is when I was checking my back account and noticed the £80 fine had been refunded!!!

Happy days!!!

Brilliant Ria

We got a ticket for driving in a bus lane, we only entered it, realised our mistake and left immediately, but got clocked on a camera.

We appealed because we were travelling to the National with Luke for his surgery and we were stressed and not used to travelling in central London. We just got a tough, please pay up reply. Maybe we should have tried Mr Kahn

That was a bit of a result, Meriad. Judging by various things I've read elsewhere, TfL don't have the best reputation for being either user-friendly or sympathetic ....

Well done Ria.

It all depends on the decision maker's headgear. Is it the one with the baseball cap with the peak to the side or is it the one in the South American Dictator's cap with all the gold braid?

When I got caught for about 15 metres of accidentally being in a bus lane in Bradford it was a SAD with the gold braid.

I told the chief exec that I would never spend another penny in her rotten borough and I never have.
