The English Tracing App

Will you be downloading the app when it comes into use (scheduled for 24th September)? As far as I'm aware it's voluntary.

Although we have a smart phone, it never leaves the house - we have an old non-smart mobile phone which we tend to use away from home - so there's little point in us bothering, but that's just our personal circumstances .....

We have a similar app over here too.

But it's only of use if you have a phone that can access it. And like many people, we don't.

I probably would, but as we're rarely away from home these days it's not much help lol

MrsC has a smart phone but atm I would put money on her not bothering with the app.

They will have to make it law for it to be on my phone. Then they will have to make it law for the phone, Blue Tooth and Wi-Fi to be turned on. Then they will have to make it law for me to have the phone with me when I am out and about. So, basically, no.

I might consider it if I could detect a molecule of competence in those operating it and also test and trace, but I can't.

Does anyone do the track and trace thing when eating in a cafe or restaurant?

Often they have a (black and white chequered square, can't remember the name) to use, which I had no idea what to do until recently, but it's so easy to do so I have done it a few times.

As for the app - I'd probably get it if I thought it would help.

Do you mean the QR Code, Gal? I believe you need a smart phone (and wi-fi connection?) to be able to utilize that, but we virtually never take our smart phone out of the house, so we've always just simply given name and telephone number when asked by a cafe / restaurant for track and trace purposes. If an establishment turned round and said "it's QR code or nothing," I'd have to take my custom elsewhere. Has anyone been to a Wetherspoons or a Costa? - I am not sure whether they are operating on the basis of "QR code or nothing" .....

Some cafe / restaurants I know are going to have to up their game, as not properly collecting track and trace details is now a breach of the law, as I understand it.
