Yesterday we had problems setting up internet and phone
But bt sorted it this morning it was an outside fault so they flicked a switch
But yesterday I suggest to J
Try by very old landline phone such I loved and always kept in a cupboard for emergency
j,said it won't work mum it hasent got a plug
So next time he comes I will plug it into
Phone connection and show him it does

My BIL was a BT telecomms man and he always said to keep a simple standalone wired phone in a drawer. That is a phone that does not need an external power source just a plug for the phone line. A 'spike' in the system can fry those cordless ones that sit in a cradle - the ones you can walk around the house with.

Oh god no! I daren't let Mick have old telephones to play with, he started at BT as an engineer and would have FAR too much fun messing about with them!

Hide one in an old handbag you never use.... no man would ever dare lake a look!

When we were clearing mum's house we found five old phones stashed away.

Get a special one, a phone bag, - try a charity shop. Tell M it is 'the special one', then hang it up, slightly open, in a prominent but dark place in the wardrobe and just leave it. He will never go near - ever.

He's probably got one in the shed somewhere anyway, if I know him
