Why do American sites.....

Postby Workingman » 30 Nov 2020, 19:36

.... go to lengthy explanations before getting to the nitty-gritty?

I wanted a simple recipe for an American style pizza base.

No matter where I went I had to scroll through reams about types of flour, yeasts, temps, proving, kneading styles..... before getting to the list of ingredients.

I am not at primary school FCOL!

And why MUST I only use unsalted butter when I need SALT later in the recipe!?

Want a shed?

British version: buy shed, screw together, job done.

American version: Where wood comes from. Different types of trees. Different types of planks, glues, screws, nails, tools needed, where to buy them.... then at the end: buy shed, screw together, job done.

I am guessing the larger the page, the more adverts can be squeezed onto it, and money earned

Ah, now there's a thing.

They do not all carry adverts, as such, but in their ramblings they do mention this brand of flour, and yeast, and clingfilm and ready-mix....you get my drift? :D

You might be on to something, you genius, you. ;) xxx

Subtle, NOT!

It’s not just things like this, I’ve got American online friends and they’re a bit long-winded when they’ve got something to say...why say something in five words if you can use 500?
