can someone please explain to me....

Postby meriad » 17 Dec 2020, 19:26

just why - in Tier 3 - restaurants / theatres etc have to close but gyms are allowed to stay open? Surely people in a gym sweating and breathing heavily and moving around without a mask in a confined space pose more risk than a bubble of friends sitting way apart in a restaurant / theatre?

I seriously struggle to understand

Weird, isn't it?

Is it because there can be big spaces between the equipment?

Can anybody explain any of it?

I'm in T3 and cannot meet in a group in the garden, even just three of us, unless we are in a support bubble, yet step across the road to the park and six of us can meet up, support bubble or not. And what is magic about six when 15 can go to a wedding and 30 to a funeral?

It's all as clear as mud.

I am just reading this and the anomalies are almost endless.

It really is no surprise that loads of people are confused and that, sadly, will lead ever so many of them to do their own thing.

will go into tier 3 midnight Saturday here in Lee on Solent

How is this for an anomaly----

Lee on Solent golf club only has 3 holes in Lee ,the rest and the clubhouse are in Fareham which is tier 2

there is a car park which is in Fareham which has the entrance in Lee ,so Lee people can't use it

The gym thing makes no sense at all, the only argument I’ve seen people use for wanting them open is that their mental health would suffer if they couldn’t exercise.

As for weddings and funerals, I suppose that a wedding can be postponed if you want more guests but a funeral can’t be. Plus get a larger group together to celebrate at a wedding and I suppose there’s more chance of people forgetting to distance once they start drinking.

That's really funny, but at the same time really exasperating!

This Yorkshire couple have an even bigger head scratcher - their house is in one tier and their garden in another!
