Do you have a second name?

I'm common or garden one name. My brother has two, a friend has three

And do you like your name? Hate mine, my memory is my mother shouting my name with a rising end of it. Jaaaannnniiiiiiice

But it's better than Cheryl Louise  And my poor brother is Wayne, which might be better than Linus

Nice thread Jan.

I'm Alison Mae and my sister is Michele Dawn.

Don is Donald Joseph and took the confirmation name George (after George Best.)

Our three are Craig Alexander, Jacob Daniel and Conor Michael.

I do like my name. Although I mostly get called Al or Ally.

I was baptised Francis John and everyone called me by that double name till dad died shortly after my 13th birthday when suddenly I became Frank - after him - and it stuck.

I sometimes see friends from school when out shopping or in town and they still call me Francis John, and I must admit that it does have a ring to it.

I'm Maria Dorothea..... :o I used to hate my middle name... still not keen on it at all but not as embarrased about it as I used to be.

My mother wanted me to have Dorothée as my second name but when dad went to register my birth the chap behind the counter (a older chap with lots of bad WW2 memories) suggested the change as it would be more German and infinitely more suitable than a foreign name and dad; bless him - he just went with it. Apparently mom was furious but the cost of changing it would have been too much so here we are.

Just as well really because mom wanted to call my by my 2nd name - could you imagine; OK in Germany; but here in the UK I'd end up being called Dot.... And all I can ever think of when I hear that name is Dot Cotton from East Enders

So to avoid confusion between my gran Maria who I was named after and me; my name was shortened to Ria

What a tale, I just cannot imagine you as a "Dot".

And it never clicked that Ria might be a contraction of Maria, I always thought that it was an actual name in an Afrikaner / Pennsylvania Dutch sort of way.

I’m Joanne Gail. I don’t like either name. My sister is Julie Dawn, our parents gave us names which were popular at the time so that we wouldn’t stand out :o

John is John Malcolm. He kept the Malcolm a secret for a couple of years and told me he didn’t have a middle name.
Tom is Tom Alexander (after Alex Ferguson) and Joe is Joe William. Liam was our first choice name but there was a really badly behaved Liam next door to us and it put us off, so we went for the longer version.

My Dad doesn’t have a middle name, he’s just Dennis. My Mom is Ivy Caroline. Ivy after one aunt and Caroline after her Aunt Carrie, although they later found out that her name actually was Carrie and not Caroline.

I have a friend called Sara Joan. She was supposed to be Sarah Jane but her lovely Dad massively messed up when he registered her birth

Should have mentioned parents.

My mum was Barbara Hazel and my dad John Stanley. My brother was Wayne John. Grumpy is Keith Victor.

My daughter is Julia Elizabeth. Julia after her paternal grandmother and Elizabeth after a very good family friend. Grumpy's boys are plain Shaun, Paul and Lee.

Eldest granddaughter is Tonicha, then there's Keiran and Piper Alyssa. I know the other two have second names, but I can't remember them   Other grandchildren are Oliver Edward (after his grandfather) and Charlie. As well as Cathy and Daniel.

So a mixed bunch 8-)

I was christened with one name only, Rosemary. For my confirmation, I took Philomena, don’t ask me why, we were supposed to take a saint’s name but sadly not long after that, there was some controversy and it appeared she might not have been a saint at all  I have never ever used it. We only gave Miss Osc one name, Gayle, but for her confirmation, she took Denise in honour of my father Denis. She calls herself G. D. Patton in her practise as my father was a solicitor.
