Good morning.

Bright and frosty but I'm toasty in the house.

Today I will be helping Michele pack as her easyjet flight to Luton on Thursday has been cancelled.
She contacted the car rental firm Enterprise that she'd hired her car from and they've said that instead of dropping the car in Hamilton where she'd got it from she can now keep it until tomorrow and drop it in Northampton.

This means she's driving there tomorrow to hook up with her husband Mark who has been with his mum there to look after her before and after her hip operation.

The plan is they stay with Maureen there until a date for the go ahead to travel back to France. They now need a covid test to do so but can't book one until they know they can actually travel as it's to be done no more than 72 hours beforehand.

Another lovely sunny morning an going to be warm again later

Pingo run this morning, as well as collecting my blood test results. Also need to pop into the Chinese, to see if we can find something silly for a present. Coffee on the way back and then this afternoon we're off for an ecg test. Both of us, one after the other. Grumpy can also collect his 24 hour monitor results.

Leftover chicken for dinner, I'll make it like a roast

I'm off to see D in a while, we always have lunch on Tuesdays, although recently it's most days Hoping she's not worrying too much about this test business Tonight I'm picking up our order from Sainsbury's, then that will be us organised. I hope

Ally, really hope Mark and Michelle are able to get home soon - what a nightmare for everyone. You know; my heart breaks for the lorry drivers stuck - they see precious little enough of their families and one would assume that Christmas is the one time they all try make an effort to be home - and then something like this happens. Imagine spending Christmas in a dreary truck cabin. Not even as though they can be invited into people's homes because of Covid

Well another day of pootling, tidying etc for me. Hoping to finally get round to some baking - just haven't been in the mood for it really. Will have a quick look at work emails and deal with anything urgent, but given I'm meant to be off this week anything non-urgent can wait a bit

Latest from the family in SA is that the girls are going to sit it out; the new variant seems to be spreading across Europe (apparently cases in Holland and Italy) so fingers crossed that by the time the 27th and the 31st December arrive they can get on their respective flights; Carissa to get back home to Germany on the 31st, and Bianca and family to emigrate to Holland and start their new life there.

Morning all, it is bright and cold here, but no frost. Edward has gone to play golf while I wait for the supermarket delivery. Michael and Kellie will be here today instead of Thursday, they get their holidays at midday. Edward will be icing the Christmas cake this afternoon.

Like you Ria, we feel so sorry for all the lorry drivers stranded, a lot of them are being moved to Manston Airport which isn't far from us. It will be a miserable time for them, the airport has been closed for a few years and is pretty derelict these days, the only facilities for the drivers are portaloos, nowhere to wash and no food etc.

The trip to Canterbury hospital went well yesterday, even the rain wasn't too bad, very little traffic so no horrid spray. Can't believe how enormous E's new shoe is, but at least it evens him up nicely. He wore it for a while when we got back, he says it feels strange, but he'll wear it in over the next few days.

We were up really early, wanted to get E showered and dressed before Z arrived. Just as well, I'd not long got myself dressed and there she was, our own little Santa She said the boys are ridiculously excited about Christmas, they'll be giving us a video call on the day. Of course it's not the same as being with them, but at least we can see them.

Busy day for me, the bed's stripped and the washing's on the go. Expecting an order from Tesco this afternoon, will be interesting to see what actually arrives. Not a big problem, got plenty to keep us going, but I do hope the bottle of Appleton's rum comes. I've ordered it as a surprise and special treat for E, it's his favourite spirit and of course we missed out not being able to go to Barbados. Will be sorry if my Kahlua fails to turn up too lol

Pingo was quite busy, but that's me for a week now. Bloods seem to be okay, but will see the doc next month, with all the results.

Aljustrel is only about 35 minutes away and on a good couple of roads. We're hoping that they will be on time, as sometimes you're sat there for ages.

Stupidly, forgot to turn the outside lights on before we went

Evening all. Long day at work today and very stressful as we were drown to 2 GP’s due to self isolation. Most patients were shouting about not having enough medication - because of course it is our fault that they forgot to order it.

Chilling out with wine tonight. I’m at work for 7.30 tomorrow but as I break up at 1pm for Xmas I am already in holiday mode.

Makes me mad Debih. I always have at least one months worth of each tablet. What's good over here is that you can buy most of them in the chemist and then get a prescription. Some you can buy without, like blood pressure tablets.

Our inhalers though, are very expensive, so I always make sure that I have plenty here.
