Good morning Thursday

Postby Ally » 21 Jan 2021, 06:19

Good morning.

Forecast sunshiney clouds and 18 degrees. :D

Yesterday was our local Saint's Day (San Sebastian) so it was a holiday. I had a lovely day being a lazy Suzy and lying reading on the sofa.

Usual two hours this morning followed by breakfast coffee/pitufo and people watching in the plaza.

Work 4- 9 then home to Don's speciality of chicken pad Thai. :P :P

Have a great day.

Oh and I'll be ringing dad to make sure his Tesco delivery arrived. Sis had ordered him groceries and was given a time slot of 4pm yesterday. When I rang dad at 9 (his time) last night it still hadn't arrived but he'd had two phone calls.....one to say maybe around 11 and then another to say it was more likely to be at midnight.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Blue skies!!!! :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

Crumbs Ally, that's a late delivery - was your dad happy to accept it that late? And hopefully it did turn up. But glad you had a lazy day yesterday. How is A doing?

very much a usual work day here. As said we have lovely blue sky and let's hope it stays like that for a bit so the ground gets a chance to dry out. I've got a ginormous pumpkin from the allotment that I need to do something with; it won't keep much longer. But it's so huge and there's only so much soup any sane person can eat / have in the freezer. I may just roast the whole thing and try freeze it as it is and then process it further when I'm ready for it.

Oh, and need to bake a loaf of bread, but may leave that for tomorrow.

Have a lovely day all xx

Morning Ally, Ria and everyone

Sunshine at the moment, but more rain forecast later this afternoon. Rather grey and gloomy for the next few days.

Berlimey Ally  Hope it arrived.

Not a lot going on today. Too wet again, to do anything outside, but may uncover the plants now we're having double figures at night. Unwrap all the outside taps too

Curry making later and that's about my lot.

Ria, cut some of the pumpkin up, into chunks and freeze it. I made a pork and pumpkin stew the other day, lush :D with pumpkin left over from last year. If it's in chunks, it easier to bash and take out what you want.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Jan, just as it is, ie in it's raw state or cooked or blanched first?

Good morning all.
That is a late delivery! Wet here too Jan, very wet indeed. No chance of the ground drying around here Ria, everywhere is absolutely sodden.Standing water in the fields, huge puddles of it.
It actually snowed again last night but it didn't settle. A very gusty and freezing cold wind this morning, it goes right through you. Also rain showers.
We've been to Roy's for some eggs and for a paper. This afternoon we are going to the big Sainsbury's and that will be it for the day.
Only the hardiest dog walkers are out today and most of the dogs I have seen have their little doggie coats on! Can't blame them for that.
I haven't seen any cats prowling around for a while; they are far too sensible to be out in weather like this!
Have a good day all.

Afternoon all :D

Lovely and sunny, much better than last night with the howling winds. High drama, anyone looking out of their window at midnight would have been treated to a rare sight. There was me hobbling with a sore ankle and E trying to keep hold of his crutches hanging onto the car scrabbling about trying to grab the rubbish that spilled out of our recycling bin after it got blown over. Luckily we weren't in bed when we heard the crash so managed to grab our raincoats and get out there quite quickly. I say we, but I did tell E to stay put, the last thing I needed was to have him fall flat on his face on the driveway. Typical man, he ignored me, we looked like a couple of drowned rats when we came back in. After all the drama we suddenly realised how ridiculous we looked and had a good giggle   Thank goodness the bin men turned up this morning or we'd have been pretty peeved.

Not the best news yesterday at my review, I'm right up to the top of the pre-diabetes range. If it goes up even a tiny bit more I'll be back in the full diabetes zone again. Depressing but no surprise, pre lockdown I was having 3mthly blood tests so was more on top of it. My diet overall is good, but I know I've relaxed with the carbs a bit, especially when E was in hospital. Not enough exercise, missing my three trips a week for hydrotherapy and so on, my weight's crept up by 9lbs too. Soooo it's back to being extremely strict, she's scheduling me in for another check up in 3mths time.

Not much happening today, expecting a Sainsbury's deliver later. I've popped a casserole in the slow cooker so that's dinner taken care of.

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe xx

Afternoon all, it’s gone quite dull in the last few minutes after a sunny morning.

We had a covering of snow last night, there’s still a bit hanging around but most was washed away by a downpour at 7am. Didn’t bother taking Bill through the woods and over the common today, it was horrible walking on Tuesday (ankle deep in mud in places) and will be even worse after the rain we’ve had in the last 24 hours, so I think we’ll stick with walking around the village for now.

I’ve just seen some photos of Stafford on Facebook and the town centre is flooded again.

Jen, I’m sure you’ll soon be back on track again. Take care x
Btw that sounds like our close on Tuesday. Our recycling bins hadn’t been emptied for 4 weeks so a lot of bins were fully closed so it was blowing everywhere.

Have a good day all :)

Afternoon all, it’s a bright breezy day here and quite cold, although I haven’t been out yet. Earlier on, I watched the Inauguration concert which we had recorded, it was brilliant! Michael and Kellie are here and we’ll get out for a walk at some stage. Edward had ordered a keyboard cover from Amazon which arrived this morning - even though it is supposed to fit his keyboard, it is far too small, so had to be repackaged for sending back. Our supermarket shop arrived at a good time. Then Edward got a phone call from the hospital saying he is to have a COVID test done tomorrow before his hernia op on Monday - so thankfully, all being well, he’ll have the op, we really expected it to be cancelled. Today is “keys to new house day” for Miss Osc :Hi: :Hi: we hope to get a look at it over the weekend.

Jen, I know it wasn’t funny really but I did have a little giggle ;) I’m sure you will soon get yourself back on track.

Happy Thursday all! At LAST I have a day off!! :D :D Working Saturday mornings is hard.....feels like I've been at work for ever, to think I used to do it every week!! :o

We've had a lot of rain, some snow, and wind, but it's sunny now and I could get the car out - so it's had its first look outside of the garage in about 3 weeks :) Been across to B&M to get more cat litter and some bits, we went to Asda after work last night as snow forecast and no idea if I would be able to go out today.

I've had a tussle with TalkTalk, who provide my BB and telly. I was disappointed that nothing was being recorded this past few days, and on trying to playback, we got a black screen :( And worse, all my pre-recorded stuff was the same! So I tried to do an online chat but no good, so had to join a community for TT this morning and post my complaint on there - result! We're being sent out a replacement box, only I won't be able to retrieve my recorded stuff :( Boo.

Good news re E's op Osc - glad it's going ahead :)

It's so easy to gain a few pounds (or more!) at the mo, Jen, seems like there's nothing much else TO do apart from eat! I know I have gained weight this past year, no Aquafit since last Feb and eating more rubbish....erm, nice things but bad for you  We try and get a walk in fairly regularly but can only do a decent one when we're not at work - I don't fancy going out after it's dark!

Yes Jo there are lots of flooded towns and cities after two full on days of rain. I've not been in to Durham for a few weeks but at least here we aren't near any rivers so have been fortunate to not really be affected - mind you the garden looks atrocious, there's soaking mud all around and a huge puddle at the bottom of the lawn.
