Seen that one reported elsewhere, Vic. One of many variants - the key phrase being "press Button 1"

Goes without saying - never, EVER, press Button 1

I find it quite astounding just how many scam calls I get, both on my work phone (so rerouted via the switchboard) and my personal phone.

One I haven't had for a while is the "I have been informed you've been in a car accident, that wasn't your fault - is that right?" - now it's about my internet bill not being paid / NI number compromised / something else compromised / HMRC unpaid debt ....

The only button to ever press is the red end the call one.

Oh and also, I was told that when you get these calls to not even say anything; apparently some of them they call a number of times to record your voice so they can access things via voice recognition. It's all quite scary really just how clever some of these people are (and desperate)

I have had a couple recently to say my Sky broadband will be disconnected if i don't press 1.
I don't know how they will do that as I have never been with Sky.

Amazon is another we’ve been getting recently, saying that we’ve paid £399 for something and they need to speak to us about it.

Thanks for the warning Vic.

It is also scary how many people will press 1 or click a link in an email. It seems like I have been putting these warnings up forever even though I know that VVers are not that tempted, but some of you might pass the warnings on to family, friends and neighbours.

Getting the word out about them is one of the best defences we have.
