Hi all,, sorry to have been away for so long....it's been a trying few weeks and I didn't want to bring peeps down.

Think I mentioned our old greyhound Tip has been struggling recently...he was diagnosed with a fracture in his spine but he also had arthritis and walking was painful and pretty much un-doable! The prognosis wasn't brilliant given his age, so last Thursday we took him to the vets for the last time :( I've been trying to support Tom as he's been in bits, feeling guilty that he's let Tip down and overwhelmed with sadness to not have his big strong lad around any more. It's been a very emotional time. Lily (dog) too has struggled to adjust to life on her own, so we have spent more one to one with her. She's A.Ma.Zing with Charlie, she's aware that he's there and when he runs past her, she looks round at him with her eyes but she's never been aggressive towards him. Obviously we don't leave them alone together - yet - but who knows?

Work is still dreadful and I'm trying to work out a way to change jobs/retire ASAP without losing any money. There's a long tale I'll nickname "Hampergate" which I may tell you about at some point which has left a very nasty taste in mine and Yvonne's (my friend and workmate) mouth, in fact she did hand in her retirement notice, but she may or may not retract it yet. Never in all my years there, did I think it would be like this, and it saddens me immensely.

But I have five days off in a row, always a joy, and we have been for a couple of nice walks yesterday and today, in 'training' for our hols in Keswick next week! (Fri May 7th) I got an email from the holiday co. to say they'd have to cancel it and give us a full refund as our original booking (from last year) was an apartment in Grasmere, but it's not self contained, shared doors, stairways etc, so unless we could find alternative accommodation, we would get the refund. I found the bungalow we stayed at in Keswick in 2019 and fortunately it was available for the same dates, so I booked it! Phew!! Bit more to pay on top of what we'd already paid but it's done and I can't wait!

I'll have a squizz round the rest of the threads and see what you've all been up to >>>>>>>>

You have been through the wringer there Gal. My sympathies to you all.

Losing a pet is never easy, but sometimes you have to let go rather than see them suffer. I have a few of those T shirts.

Being in a job you once liked that then turns sour can really do you in. Another T shirt.

However, you do have the holiday to look forward to and for the brisk Keswick air to clear your head. Go for it - relax and enjoy it!

Hi Gal, sorry to read the sad news about you lovely Tip and to see that life hasn’t been easy lately.

Please don’t ever think that you’ll be bringing us all down if you post when things are difficult. We’re all here to help each other through the hard times as well as to celebrate the good ones.

Sending you lots of love xx

Another one that has lost the job and the pet Gal.

Enjoy your holiday and hopefully the job will sort itself out. Tip is someone you need to mourn and adjust to though. Time will heal that sadness
