Long Covid

Covid really is a nightmare of a virus :? B's friend H, who lives round the corner and works with her, and who was giving her lifts into work all through the first lockdown, had asymptomatic Covid last year. It was only picked up when she was traced as a contact, as she felt perfectly well. A few days ago, she had a weird episode of feeling what she described as "really out of it" and ended up in A&E, then rushed up to the cardiac ward after an abnormal ECG  :? She is home now, awaiting further testing, but they think a heart condition caused by the virus. She's 20 :(

This is what people do not get, and I read it all the time - it's a mild flu, you'll get over it, it doesn't affect 99.3% of us.

The fact is that you might have had it and it was so mild you didn't know or it knocked you down for a while and then you recovered - all is well.

All might be well till its true effects come back to bite - the fact is you never "recovered" you were in remission. There is now plenty of evidence that having had the virus its slow and long-term damage can affect the lungs and other organs - possibly for life.

But hey, never mind, I'm young, fit and well and healthy - let's go party.

Kaz, I sure hope that B's friend recovers fully and that this episode is only a one-off aberration.

Yes, well, the anti-vaxers should be made to read this thread. I do hope she recovers without any further long-term effects, Kaz.
