Good morning Thursday

Postby Ally » 24 Jun 2021, 05:34

Good morning.

Same old heat.

I'm just back from a quick run.

I'll have a coffee then a swim and that's my fitness done for the day.

We're nipping out shopping for a few bits then back to chill out. :D

Meeting up with some friends later for a beer and a bite to eat. :cute:

Have a great day.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Pleasantly warm 8-) And no wind :Hi: :Hi:

Off on a jolly after breakfast. First stop will be the driving school in Ourique, see if we can sort out the driving licence for Grumpy, then it's off to the Algarve :D

Looking for light shades, then onto Aldi and then hit Algarve Shopping, lots of shops  Will be looking at treadmills too :D

The pool water should have warmed up enough by the time we get back to have a relaxing swim.

More of Jackie's sausages for dinner 8-)

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning you two and and everyone else :D

Jan, safe driving and hope you manage to get everything sorted / everything you need
Ally - send that warmth here please; summer seems to have forgotten to visit here

Well another usual usual for me - although will be working from Karl and Nadine's for a few hours. They are expecting a 'to be signed for' delivery and no-one will be home, so I'll pop over and wait for it.

But happy news my end is that today, 7.55am precisely I had a delivery through my letterbox - my UK Passport . It is the final step of a very long and expensive journey.; a process that started September 2018 when I applied for my residence permit (needed to apply for my citizenship - done November 2019) and 30th January last year I officially became a British Citizen. I was going to apply for the passport a few weeks later but then Covid happened and I held off and ended up only applying the other day - application online submitted 21st May and today that little blue book arrived
:Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

Have a lovely day all x

Morning all, it’s a nice day here. We had a very relaxing few days in Wicklow and were fortunate with the weather - yesterday we drove home in rain  We have Michael and Kellie today, who will no doubt be delighted that the new icecream shop next door has finally opened. We tried it yesterday, and the icecream was lovely. Yesterday afternoon, we were contacted by the travel agency to say that Aer Lingus have cancelled Saturday flights to Verona (for no discernible reason) until later in August. We were offered two options - one, to travel on the same date with Ryanair to a different airport and endure up to four hours on a coach to our destination, or push back our holiday by two weeks and travel with Aer Lingus, we chose the latter (Ryanair AND a four hour coach journey, no thanks!). So now we are going away on August 21st instead of the 7th, but we can live with that. Also, I activated a refund for our cancelled river cruise, hopefully that will land in the credit card with the next few days.

Morning all, it’s pouring down here.

It’s been a productive morning, starting with a long walk with Bill while it was still dry. I’ve had two parcels delivered, the beds have been changed, I’ve printed a returns label which is no mean feat as the PC and printer NEVER get it right first time (or second, third, fourth or fifth for that matter) so after half an hour and the loss of a lot of patience I’ve ended up connecting my little notebook computer to it and it worked first time with that.

Osc, Joe and Amanda were booked to go to Paris with Ryanair in July. It was all booked through them but the hotel and flights were paid for separately. They decided to cancel and go with their back up Edinburgh holiday instead so they were able to cancel the hotel part and were refunded but the flights were non-refundable so they just left them, they didn’t bother going through the cancellation process for nothing. He had an email yesterday saying that they (Ryanair) were unfortunately having to cancel the flights so would they like to rebook for a later date or get a refund, so they’re getting an unexpected refund.

Have a good day all :)

Morning all :D

Lovely and sunny here 8-)

Good news about your new passport Ria.
Sensible to change the date of your holibobs Osc, hope the cruise refund arrives soon.

Talking ice cream Osc, we had a bit of a shock yesterday to find our favourite shop Sorbetto has changed hands. The new owners are no longer making ice cream on the premises, they're selling a brand called Marshfields :o Of course it was only fair to give it the benefit of the doubt so I tried the coffee mocha and no no nooooo it's definitely nowhere near as nice as the homemade ice cream we enjoyed before. The nearest place making their own ice cream is Morelli's in Broadstairs and although it's very nice and the shop is quite famous, it's not as nice as Sorbetto. Me and boys can definitely vouch for that, we've done intensive research, disaster!!!

Apart from that is was so nice to be back by the harbour, we actually walked a lot more than we realised. Taking it easy today

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe xx
