Once upon a time...

Postby Ally » 30 Jun 2021, 08:54

...before covid travelling meant my passport and boarding pass.

Now I need...

Passport
Boarding pass
Proof of negative PCR test certificate
Proof of booking days 2 and 8 covid test
Passenger locator form
Proof of first covid vaccination certificate
My NHS card to get my second vaccination at dad's

Which I can do after 10 days quarantine

And a folder to put all this information into.

actually - oddly enough you could do this before the quarantine is over; whether you should if you don't have to is another matter. You're allowed to leave the house for medical appointments (well here in the UK that is) - and vaccination is considered just that.

What a palaver Ally. I cannot wait until all talk of "bubbles", "social distancing" etc etc vanishes forever.

And it gets worse.

You have to get on a British train. Travel to a place where the locals speak a language unknown anywhere else in the Universe. Sit with a bunch of reprobates whilst drinking cider and eating pub food.

And don't forget your big wind-resistant brolly. ;) :) :)

I've just rang the place where I'll get my second vaccination and they said it's absolutely no problem me getting it in the UK but they'd rather I waited until I'd done my quarantine...which is absolutely fine by me.

Just bring the certificate of the first one having been done here in Spain.

Think I'm going to spend this visit clutching onto pieces of paper.

Ally, do watch out that certain rail companies have introduced compulsory reservations. You may not be able to just buy and use walk-on tickets, you have to get a reserved seat as well, and you have to travel on a specific service.
You're probably aware of this, and it might not affect the particular journeys you're making, but I think all the "long-distance" companies like Cross Country and Avanti are involved, so do check if you're unsure. Rules differ by company ..
