I have been scammed

Checking my credit card statement yesterday there was a debit of £2.50for a bus ticket. As I normally use my bus pass after 9.30 a.m or pay £2.00 cash
if I catch an earlier bus I phoned the credit card company--Santander. After explaining the problem to a lovely lady, she said she would cancel the card,
arrange a refund of the £2,50, issue a new card and send the details of the transaction to their fraud department.
She said the fraudsters try a small amount before making a big withdrawal.
Just shows you have to be very careful
There was an article in DM saying NatWest employ more staff on fraud then normal banking services. Shows how serious the problem is

I’d heard that, about them trying a small amount first. Lucky you spotted, Cruiser.

We were done several years ago for £300 on our credit card, when we contacted our bank they said they could see that it was a telephone transaction to USA.Refunded our money within 24 hours but when I asked if they would follow it up the guy I was speaking to said as it was only? £300 it wasn't worth bothering and the bank would just write it off !!!!

Thankfully the banks etc. now are taking the issue more seriously.
I posted some time ago about an issue with Amazon Prime.
Amazon were not interested but Action Fraud and Yorkshire Bank were. My card was frozen and the account closed. A new account was opened with the old correct balance paid in and a new card issued.
It was a pain reorganising DDs and SOs but at least what was once seen as a 'victimless crime' was taken seriously.
Well done for spotting it Cruiser.

Very lucky you spotted it Cruiser! It happened to me a few years ago, on our main joint account. Somebody bought ferry tickets, and the bank rang to ask if it was me
I got my money back.

Master O had similar about 10-15 years ago - he was contacted by his bank because they had spotted two 20p transactions to O2 going through - and it was, at the time, a known "try a small amount first" scam
Well spotted, Cruiser.
