Mine, a Candy, started making a real racket on the spin cycle and I was thinking of calling in a techy to sort it, then I started reading.
I use a lot of cotton or poly-cotton clothes and had put four jumpers in for a wash - well under the 8og dry weight - but very heavy when wet. They had all clumped together so when the spin started the dynamic weights moved to balance things out. The next few washes they were out of alignment, hence the banging.
A few tips from various websites sorted things. Run an empty wash cycle, or a few very small loads, at low spin speeds. They did the trick as the balance weights realigned. But the best was from Good Housekeeping - use a bit of string or an elastic band to keep the sleeves and hem or trouser legs tied together and stop things tying themselves in knots, thus keeping them as separate items. Works a treat.
