Foreign travel and covid

Postby miasmum » 01 Jan 2022, 19:39

My friends daughter and son in law have been in Austria since Sunday with her dad and stepmum and the children. Her dad has now tested positive, so has to remain in Austria for 7 days. The rest of them have managed to get an earlier flight back and will have to isolate at home until Monday when their PCRs are booked. But surely if he is positive there is a high likelihood of them being, so what about all the other passengers on the flight? Will they have had to do a test before they were allowed on?

Over here, you have to have a negative test, sometimes done at the airport, before you can fly.

I would imagine the best people to ask would be the airline.

Hope they can get back and all will be well with them xx

So many questions.

So it was last Sunday when the holiday started - six days ago?

When, on what day, did he test positive?

How long was the original stay for?

If it was longer than the self-isolation period why fly back - stay put, test, tough it out?

Why put other's at risk?

I can't get my head round these things.

I don't know when he tested positive, but they should have been flying home tomorrow. They tested negative before they got on the plane.

Similar situation with John’s boss. He and his wife have been visiting their son in Seattle. They hadn’t been able to see him for two years so it’s understandable that they went but they flew out on the 23rd and since then all but his wife have tested positive. She flew back yesterday on the original flight and Tom’s obviously got to change his to return once he’s able. I assume that Hazel would have to test negative at the airport, not sure how it works in other countries though as it’s hard enough getting to grips with what’s needed here.

Not a chance in hell I’d be booking to go abroad until things are much, much calmer.

Mick's nephew who is based in Qatar came home for Christmas. He had to test (PCR) before flying here, and has to have another negative PCR before flying back. That really ought to be the same for everyone :?
