Those of you using lateral flow tests, this might be useful if you have the nasal swab only ones.

John tested negative twice, last night and this morning, after doing nasal swabs despite having symptoms.
We felt a bit dubious about the accuracy this morning and I’d read that Prof Tim Spector had recommended swabbing the throat so I suggested he try that and almost immediately the test showed a strong positive.

It makes you wonder just how many people have symptoms, do a nasal swab and get a negative so just write it off as a cold and get on with their days.

When he got the positive he only swabbed his throat, he didn’t bother with his nose. He’s feeling okay, thanks, just a slight headache now and a sore throat.

Given how poorly Luke Tim and I one after the other, all with covid type symptoms I was amazed we all tested negative. But we only did nasal lat flows. That said between the 3 of us we did 14 over 3 weeks so if they were all false negatives it seems amazing anyone has tested positive
