Amy and Tom's Wedding Day

Thank you so much for all the kind thoughts and wishes for a good day for the wedding - the weather wasn't especially kind (very cold and very windy, a little sunshine) but it didn't really matter as most of it was indoors. It was literally hold on to your hats from 'car to bar', but once inside, that was it. The hotel was lovely, two huge rooms, the Durham Suite, assigned to us, plus a separate bar. We gathered in said bar and then Tom was whisked off to meet up with Amy and the 'maids - turns out I should've been there too for photos but by the time he knew, and phoned me, it was too late, we'd already gone through to the next room for the ceremony. The celebrant, a larger gentleman, advised the first three rows of seating were to be kept empty, so Jen, Kyle and I were heading for the next available one, I told the guy I was partner of the bride's father and he said Oh you can sit here, (in the third row) so I did - and then sat there alone as J & K went in the available 5th row.....small matter really; there was no music during the actual ceremony, no hymns or anything, just modern music playing in the background and the vows (which Amy messed up completely as she was so nervous so he went through them again, much more slowly, for her to keep up)....then back to the bar while more photos were being done, and then into Room 2 for the food, which was just amazing. Tom did stand up and do his speech, but other than Amy's Tom's dad saying a very few words off the cuff, that was it. I was very proud that my Tom did it, he'd been so nervous about it.

I changed into my bargain jumpsuit for the evening do, which began at 7 and there were more people there, in fact I commented to J that if we didn't get Covid it would be a miracle! We danced loads, J and me, which was great.....Donna had also changed, and Amy had a long white maternity dress on as she's starting to really show now and her wedding dress was uncomfortable - she looked so pregnant in it! :D Lewis and Lily had been so good all day, Lily at least had some little girls to hang out with, but Lewis was the only lad his age there - he had his Switch game but other than that, he was pretty much on his own - Lily had fallen asleep on two chairs at our table by 10ish, and they had a taxi booked at 11 to go to a hotel down the road, so when they left, T and I went up to our room too. Brought the happy couple home this morning and then have just chilled for the rest of the day!!

I'm about to put some pics up on our FB page if you'd like to check them out ;) (if you haven't fallen asleep by now - well done!!)

Gal, I've just seen them, it all looked stunning, and you looked gorgeous - so elegant!

I liked Amy's dress, it's a nice change to see a wedding dress with sleeves these days ;)

I'm so glad it all went well, congratulations to the happy couple xxxx

Your outfit was just perfect! Lewis and Lily are soooo grown up now  I particularly liked your shoes, I can’t wear that high a heel any more :(

I thought I’d struggle as I generally wear no higher than an inch these days but as the dress was so long and full skirted, I needed a higher heel. Unbelievably they were super comfortable! I wore them all day and danced in them in the evening, no rubbing or soreness :)

Ah yes Jo, Lewis isn’t so little these days, and with his ever deepening voice, he’s fast growing up!

You may have noticed Amys mum’s dress is VERY similar to mine!! I was a bit taken aback when I saw her, she even joked we had been to the same store…..

You’re all very kind with your comments, thank you xx

Ally, can you believe it’s 22 years since I last was at a wedding, my nephew’s and an 11 year old Jen was a bridesmaid, I’m sure you won’t be waiting that long to go to one  ;) xx

Ps Kaz regarding the sleeves in Amys dress, the original was sleeveless but she has a scar on her shoulder from a car accident she was in a couple of years ago and didn’t want it to show on photos, so she had sleeves put in. It did make a nice change :)
