We have a bloke in the village, R. An ex-miner, he went into roofing when the pits shut down. He's a bit of a marvel; he's 75 and he's still working, up and down the ladders and he gets a lot of work, not least because he's known to be honest. He's also very very funny.
The other day the wife of one of his old friends died. R got in touch as you do and found out that his friend seemed to be getting a bit confused.
He thought he would have to carry the coffin in his people carrier because he'd thought the insurance policy had paid for a car for the relatives at the funeral.
Then he thought that the funeral was on a Thursday, when it was on Wednesday, then he thought that it started at 12 noon when it was at 11.15.
R looks at his old mate and says - "Is tha sure it's thi wife that's died?"
