if yes, when you switch it on, is the roller thing at the bottom / on the floor meant to turn as it vacuums?
My upstairs neighbour has a Vax and is complaining that it just has no power and struggles to pick up dirt, but I think it's because the roller isn't turning to pick up dirt off the floor? If you remove the attachment there's enough suction so the vacuum itself is working

I dont have a Vax, but I have a Shark and the roller rotates while it is cleaning if that helps.

All vacuum cleaners have the same basic dsign. The roller at the bottom should turn when the power is switched on.
If it does not turn there is something wrong with the motor or the power supply to it.
It may be cheaper to buy a new one than have it repaired. Even a new battery is not cheap. This is one reason I have corded ones.
Hope ypu get it sorted.

I have a Black and Decker cordless and it has a button for suction only (hard floors) or brushed cleaning (carpets). If I have been using suction only in the kitchen and forget to turn it to brushed operation for the living room carpet it is rubbish. Could it be that the Vax works in a similar way?

Hi Ria,
It has a button on the top to turn it on and off. Always useful to work out if it is turned on. Our corded Dyson rollerball has a cut off on the roller and I have to keep resetting it. I've told Mrs S 100 times that when the brushes stop she needs to press the little button. She simply wont. Prefers to just say it's crap.
The user manual is
here. Page 12 has details on where the system might block and how to clean it. I have to strip and clean the Dyson and the shark as both become blocked from time to time. The shark I clean the filter too. The Vax has a filter, needs to be emptied and cleaned from time to time. Also in the manual.
Good luck with it.
