Vocal Voices

Well I'm at home now and going nowhere whatsoever.
Today I have managed to successfully avoid pedestrians who seemed to have a death wish.

The first occassion was when I was approaching a zebra crossing. Three dog walkers with assorted mutts were making their way across, only for the rear two to suddenly stop half way over and go back to the pavement. But then having got there they immediately turned around and started recrossing the road when I was five yards from the zebra! Loons. I've never seen that before.

Then at just after six I drove up to our daughter's to get MrsC and her sister. Half way up Church hill there is a car coming out of a drive; he is blocking the pavement but waiting for me to go past before he pulls out, so no problem. Then a female jogger wearing dark clothes appears from behind his car and runs around him, straight into the road in front of me! It was dark and raining, I only saw her as she came around the car.

Well a miss is as good as a mile, but I think some people around here behave like they are on the loopy juice.
I'm just happy to be in, and I'm staying in!

No road awareness now Crommers.

We came across a jogger the other morning, also dressed on black, on a very rainy, dark morning. Almost hit her

And we have no street lights

Situational awareness - I've conditioned myself to think "they're going to step out into the road", and more times than not, they do!

My father in law always said "treat everyone else on the road as idiots and you can't go far wrong".

I went to reverse out of a disabled parking bay last week. An elderly man was sat on the high kerb on the drivers side with his legs sticking out behind my car.
I asked him politely to move. So he got up and went and stood imeediately behind the car. So again I asked him to move. He took a few steps but was
still obstructing me. So agin I told him to move a long distance away so I could safely move my car. He reluctantly walked away.

The estate where I live has two "No Cycling" ginnels, one to the main road and another to the parade of shops - they are unlit short cuts.

We get idiots riding through and straight out onto the main footpaths. There are always near misses, even during the day, and very often at night they are in dark clothing with minimal / no lights.
