What to do

I have a friend who does not have a lot of money, at all! She's due to come visit next week so sent me a message saying not to worry about buying lacto free milk as she's given up drinking tea; which is unheard of for her - she's a tea'oholic! turns out that the reason for it is that she struggles to get the cheaper store own brand milk and can't afford the more expensive branded ones so she figured it's either milk for tea or having some money to do fun things.

So I offered to buy it for her regularly - we're talking about £10 a month (if that) so really not much and I can afford that for her. But her reply was not to worry and to donate it to a cat charity instead; to which I replied that I already do that. Her reply then was to donate the money in her name then..... now don't get me wrong; I'd happily donate if needed, but I really want to spend that money on HER for milk so she can enjoy a decent cuppa without worrying about the costs. So now I don't know if I should just go ahead anyway and set up a regular delivery for her via Milk & More - don't want her to get annoyed, but equally I worry about her

What would you do?

To be honest Ria, I would just leave it. She’s obviously proud and would feel awkward if you did that. It’s an amazingly kind offer though ((((((x))))))

I wouldn’t take it any further Ria, it’s a lovely kind gesture but she clearly feels too proud to accept.

Ria, I am with Kaz and Jo on this. A lovely gesture on your part, but don't push it as you could harm your relationship.

Have you though about getting her to try some herbal / fruit teas as they do not need milk and are quite addictive? I know as I am one addict who does not like milk in hot drinks. xx

thanks all - I'll leave it be.

Frank - she doesn't like herbal / fruit teas; well not last time I asked. But I like them myself so will get some in so I can offer anyway. And I'll cook extra so she can take food home

As the other have said, back off. You have made the offer and it has not been accepted.

You can buy my milk. It is a bottle every other day and a big one at the week end.
But don't rattle the bottle when you put it on the door step!!
