Jan, beware the C class.

BiL Mike bought one brand new in 2016 or 17 and it was recalled three times in four years. He loved it as a cruiser (Leeds-London and back, twice a week) but hated it round town and near home; they are rural. Also a C class would not like the track from the bar to your place - low ride height and long wheelbase.

Talk to people, read owner reviews, lots of them, listen to mechanics.

If Grumps must have a Merc get him to look at the SUVs such as the GLA (B, C) classes. They look to be much more practical for your neck of the woods.

Gabi is our mechanic WM. He knows more about cars than most people.

He's such a good mechanic, he does the Paris/Dakar race.

Our track is smoother than the tarmac one's now it's been done properly.

We won't be buying a new ish one WM, can't afford the prices over here ;)

As Gabi will be looking after it, I'm sure he'll make sure it is perfect as can be :D

Our neighbour bought a band new one, probably around the same time, and he had so much trouble with it and found the customer service to be shocking. He didn’t keep it for long.

Mark 2 Ford Escorts are going for ridiculous prices now. A good RS2000 can cost north of £40,000! :o :o :o

Some firms are importing old Fords from South Africa - right hand drives, see - and their body shells are usually in far better condition than ones that have seen thirty or forty british winters.

Jan, an older Merc is probably better built than some of the new stuff.

Jan, if you are willing to travel for it and re-register, This site might be of help to you.

The scope is Europe wide. You note these cars are in Spain.

Worth a look anyway.
