Da da da, dadadeda - walk like a pen-gu-in.

It's advice from the NHS (Glasgow) on how to avoid slips and falls in icy conditions. Not such a bad idea given that a lot of footwear has plastic soles that are like ice skates. Sketcher wearers take note!

A better tip might be to get some decent, but not fashionable, shoes, with non-slip treads. Try Doc Ms, and no, I do not get commission.

Saundra, we are of a type - sensible and adaptable - a rare breed nowadays, Trainers tend to be the worst sorts of footwear in winter. I watch the kids going to school and the Penguin walk is on show. I used to do a lot of walking and walking shoes (trainer type) work well. Leather or plastic soles - no.

I saw the video promoting this the other day

I try to avoid going out and walking on snow and ice as much as possible, if I have to walk Bill in it I wear my wellies and while they’re not brilliant I do feel a bit of a grip on slippery surfaces. They’re not traditional rubber wellies though, they’re made of that EVA stuff and are so light and incredibly warm.

But do you walk like a Penguin or an Egyptian? I'd love to see either. :D

Hoping we get neither snow nor ice here in the SW, but if we do my trusty old knee-length leather Hush Puppies will do the trick ;)

Love those MM :D

My Skechers boots have a good tread and are great on slippy surfaces, not that I can get them on at the moment. My remedy for this weather, stay indoors in the warm

Cracking boots, Shell, and look at those soles! :o They really are the key to walking in bad weather. :D

Jen, your remedy also works for me. If I do not have to go out, I stay in.
