I climbed Snowdon

As I hate hills and have a huge terror of heights I’m quite proud of myself :Hi:

that's fabulous in so many ways - it's a decent hike as it is, but doing so when you have a fear of heights and you've overcome that; makes it doubly amazing - well done you!

Well done! 8-)

It's quite a slog up that main trail from Llanberis - surprised you didn't take the train! :P :cute:

I have done it both ways.

I walked up while I was still a teenager.

Then I went up by train when I was married.

Well done you, but...

For your next "walk" might I suggest Striding Edge on Helvellyn or a trip up Scafell Pike - The Lakes.

Or come up to Yorkshire and do the three peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. It's a day's walk, allegedly, and boy will you sleep well afterwards. ;)

No train options on any of these. Heights are no problem as you are always on the ground. :D

Here are a few photos. Not sure if you were referring to us Frank, but I can assure you no train was involved, in fact it wasnt even running to the summit.

I had a very personal reason for climbing it on that day. It would have been my mums 90th birthday, but it was also the day I was exactly the same age as she was when she passed away, 60 years, 9 months and 12 days. The fact that day fell on her birthday felt significant to me.

I was going to do it on my own, but Tim knows how terrified of heights I am, and although he isnt really fit enough and his knees are painful he was adamant he was coming as far as he could. Likewise 10 year old Toffee with her arthritic hip/knee we said as soon as she looked uncomfortable we would turn back, she was still bouncing by the top, in fact she ran passed me up the steps to the actual summit, the only one who did. I couldn't make it to the actual plinth as you had to climb 6 more steps, which were ok one side, built into the mountain but the other side were open to the elements, and the wind up there was something else. I edged my way to the top step, but couldn't let go to step up. So I sat on the top step, see photo above and bent back to touch the plinth, then came down on my bottom.
When you are terrified of heights as I am I freeze with terror, so knew that would happen at the top and I wouldn't be able to get down. Coming down when I can see how high we are is always harder for me than going up.

I am very proud of all of us.
