Or do what I do.... fitted sheet on the mattress then a flat sheet - hospital corners - then the duvet then a counterpane on top. It's a bit like the old style beds when we had eiderdowns and blankets. No duvet covers needed. They are such a faff to put on and take off.

Nope, not going there.... again. I just spend a few seconds making the bed each morning.

Saundra's right, you need to take it to a launderette, your washing machine won't cope and it would take forever to dry. Much better to buy a new one, they're not expensive. Also use a cover, looks nicer and means the duvet will last much longer. I also use a top sheet, means I don't have to change the duvet cover every time I do the sheets.

Well there is always revolution laundry. The machines are large enough and they have a tumble dryer. These are 24 hour, tend to be at petrol stations.

I also use a local launderette which used to be coin op but is moving more to credit cards. Self service, just wash and dry at your convenience.

Covers work best though.

Thank you all for your advice.

But I went mad. Stuffed it in the washer. It has now spent over 36 hours on the maiden drying inside. So I have not broken the washer, and the duvet is cleaner.

Hope to go to Boundary Mill later this year and will buy a new one.
