Anyone awake? Have a look if so.

Me, John and Joe have just been up on the Chase, what a sight!

Well done, Jo :Hi:

Had an excited phone call from Master O a couple of hours ago, who was in a "dark" area on the beach at Worthing, and he said he could see a range of multi-coloured streaks .....

... but here in North Dorset, nothing, nada, zilch.

I think our elevation is too low, TBH. If we drove up the other side of Shaftesbury to Win Gap on the Cranborne Chase, which is our version of Cannock Chase, Jo, we probably be able to see the display.

I'll wait for all the pics on the local FB page tomorrow!

YES! I set the alarm as per the local weather site.

It took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust then there was this greenish, orangish like curtain waving in the breeze with bars of mauve floating about.

Well worth waking up for. :D :D :D

I had a look before we went to bed around 11.30 but saw nothing. Great pics on FB though which I assume were taken later.

I stayed up reading after we’d got home and ended up looking out of the spare room window at 2.30 where I saw another amazing display. Finally gave in and went to bed just after 3.

Me and Joe didn’t know if we were actually seeing it at first, that was while we were still at home, the sky was glowing green but it wasn’t completely dark when we got the first alert so we weren’t sure if it wasn’t just weird light from the sun setting. By the time John got back from Norwich at 11 though we could see the green pillars and a pink glow so I accosted him on the drive and asked if he’d come up the Chase with me.
Joe stayed home at that point but after seeing photos that both me and Amanda sent him (she’d just arrived back in Stafford for the weekend) he came and found me and John. I’d already texted Tom, me and him went up the Chase a few months ago when we had a red alert but saw nothing, and he saw it all from his garden.

There's been some fantastic photos on fb.

Friends in Scotland treated to the most spectacular sights in their back gardens.

Craig in Nottingham took some fab pics as did friends in Northampton.

Not that it happened here but I was well conked out at that time.

I'm hoping to catch them tonight, but as we're right down in the Severn Valley I'm not too sure...... :?:

My niece posted some stunning pics from Manchester - amazing colours!

The local weather site said the best time was from 1:30 to 3 AM so I sat out on the green at the back because it is really dark. It peaked just after 2 AM and lasted for about 25 minutes.

I might do a repeat tonight... and take a camera!
