Time for the autumn part of the duvet to be put on!

I was just looking at the weather site I use and we will be into low single figures during the nights from the middle of next week. I might have to put the central heating on for a few hours as well.

As for now I am putting my shorts and T shirts into vacuum bags for the winter and getting jumpers and long trousers ready to be worn.

It feels miserable here in Dorset; it seems much colder than the temperature probably is.
We inherited a special sort of foam insulation in the loft when we bought this place, and whilst it's supposed to trap warm air, it seems it happily traps cold air too.
We've upped the central heating thermostat setting to 21 from 19 to ensure it "comes on", and we've used it most evenings over the last week.
The long-sleeved jumper is now being regularly worn and I'll shortly be putting away my summer sleeveless gilet in favour of the traditional winter anorak.
The scarf has already come out for the footie and it's only mid-September .... :|

I recon I have a bit to go before that WM. I am heading for France Thursday and Friday and I will be back around mid October.

I suspect all the changes will happen then.

I was just commenting on the Monday good morning thread that autumn seems to have come in with a vengeance. We had soooooo much rain last week Thursday and Friday and a bit on Saturday and the temperatures just haven't warmed up since, and then - as you say Frank - night times are expected to drop to single figures towards the end of the week. I have two duvet covers that I use for the autumn / winter and then another one for the summer - the summer one is just regular cotton, but the other two are a very soft fabric that has something else in them that makes them really warm (ie they're not as breathable as the summer one); so perfect for the cooler autumn / spring evenings and then in winter if it's really nippy I just add a blanket and I'm as snug as a bug.

My heating is left on the whole year, it only comes on if the temperature inside drops to below 18 which doesn't happen in the summer (thankfully! ) What I struggle with, is keeping warm when I'm sitting at the computer working. Sitting still doesn't make for keeping warm, so even in summer I'm often wearing a cardi or something
