Good morning.

31° forecast and sunny. 8-)

I'll have my swim around 9 then come back in to paint my nails. Today's colour will be merry berry.

We're going out with a couple of friends for lunch.
We've booked a table with a parasol.

Have a great day.

Morning Ally, and everyone :)

Merry Berry sounds nice, Al 8-) :D xx

We’re out having breakfast in Portivo’s, our friends are joining us for a cuppa shortly. Busy day as we need to pop to the big Homesense on the retail park where Tesco is - we’re on the lookout for a two-seater sofa and coffee table to go down the far end of the kitchen where our dining table is currently. We also need a roll of wallpaper for the conservatory. Round to see D after that, then this afternoon I’m making chutney. B is cooking dinner, she made a bolognese sauce yesterday and it’s in the fridge - will just need reheating and pasta popping on.

Have a good day :) xxx

Morning everyone

Cloudy but warm.

Had a lovely couple of days. Evora is a stunning place to visit and we walked miles  Not so impressed with the hotel, although the staff were lovely.

Bought Grumpy a birthday present, some lovely hand painted pictures, so will have to find somewhere to put them.

As we weren't too impressed with the food on Friday night, I was chatting with one of the waiters and he recommended a restaurant in Evora. We went there last night and it was stunning. Absolutely fantastic. Not cheap, but well worth it. And it was Grumpy's birthday ;) ;)

Going to the Palma for lunch, as we had an early breakfast.

Washing machine on

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning all.
Everybody is eating out!
Sitting outside around here would be a bit chilly today.
A family Sunday dinner here today, which will be nice; there's six of us.
I had a pork giros last night which wasn't brilliant and i smell like Gaston Garlic of Garlickville, Garlick County, Garlicktucky USA this morning.
It's not a bad day here, some blue sky now.
Have a good day everyone.

Jan glad you had a nice time away in spite of the hotel. Happy belated birthday to Grumpy.

Hello Saundra.

We've had a nice lie in, only just getting going, two big mugs of coffee should help. Roast chicken with veg for dinner this evening, lemon and lime jelly with custard for pud. Looking forward to Strictly this evening.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Evening all from the Costa Brava! It was cloudy starting off today, the sun did come out later but it was very windy. We took things easy enough today, walked along the prom, visited the Citadel of Roses which was very interesting, pottered around the town, then came back to the hotel where we had a bit of lunch. A solid siesta happened in the afternoon ;) After dinner we went for a stroll, it was a bit chilly, then back to the bar for a coffee for him and mint tea for me. Now we’re heading to bed as we have quite a long day tomorrow, going on this railway https://www.valldenuria.cat/en/summer/r ... sentation/. We’ve been warned it will probably be cold up in the mountains but hopefully it will be dry. The hotel is fine, lovely big room, good food, and our balcony has lovely views of the Pyrenees.

On the train journey yesterday, we were chatting to a very nice English couple. Usual chit chat, asked where we were from, we said just outside Dublin by the sea, a place called Howth. They said they were at their nephew’s wedding in Howth many years ago and went on to talk about the bride’s mother who is now 99 and called Mabel. I thought for a moment, and said “is it Mabel K?” (I mean, how many 99 year old Mabel’s can there be!) They were astonished and said yes. The bride is the first cousin of my first cousin on the other side!! I had actually met the bride at a wedding some years back at the wedding of my cousin’s son, and know her sister a little bit. Cue a flurry of messages between Ireland, England and a train hurtling through France, and I was even able to dig out a photo taken of the bride and myself in a small group taken at the wedding of our mutual first cousin’s son! I have said it before, I really think these things only happen when you are Irish.

That’s amazing Osc!
When John and the lads went to Galway with his mother to see where she was born and lived before moving to Dublin they went into a restaurant which many years ago was John’s grandfather’s family home. They got chatting to the waitress and the conversation turned to Margaret being from The Claddagh and the waitress said how they should talk to the man sitting just along from them as he was around back then. It turned out he knew the family, named all of the brothers and corroborated the story she’d told for years (and which none of us really believed) about a neighbour returning from sea with a pet monkey which they all loved to see.

Osc, what a coincidence!

Not quite as far away, but when we first moved back to Gloucester the Sky engineer who came to us used to live down the same road in Egham as we'd just moved from! In fact I was friends with his sister-in-law
