Good Morning Monday

Postby JanB » 14 Jul 2025, 07:11

Morning everyone

Sunny and warm. Hotting up to 35C later.

Just having a late coffee, then will head out and water the pots and the small plants. Then move some cuttings into the garden and swap a plant into a bigger pot. It's a bird of paradise bush and I've high hopes for this one. The other eight dies on me

Washing to be done too and then into Ourique this afternoon, drill hunting. Had no joy yesterday, not even pots

Pit stop for a couple of beers on the way home and salad for dinner.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning.

I've walked 9km early to be done before the heat settles in.

I'm having a fabulous time here. Spending time with Craig, going out with his friends and eating lots of yummy food.

Morning all, the weather has changed back to more normal - cloud and sun, windy, and there was some rain overnight. However, not too cold, currently 16 degrees outside. I have mobility class this morning but I’ll go a bit early to get petrol ahead of our drive to Belfast tomorrow, then backwards and forwards to Portrush on Wednesday and Thursday. Today I’ll be mostly getting stuff ready. Also, I need to write a letter to a friend in Scotland, I saw on FB yesterday that her husband has died. We were neighbours in London in the ‘70s, they visited us here after we came back and we also visited them in Scotland. Contact in recent years has been at Christmas, although we didn’t hear from them last Christmas, maybe he was ill. They were the first vegetarians we ever knew and I hadn’t a clue what to do when they visited us but thankfully they brought stuff with them and did most of their own cooking. They moved to Scotland, bought a house near Lochgilphead and opened a whole food shop in Oban. They retired in recent years, sold the shop, but still continued helping out in it. They had no children by choice and were absolutely devoted to each other.

Morning all :D

Hot 8-)

Great final yesterday, I would have loved to see Alcaraz win, but Sinner was a very worthy winner. it was nice to see how well they get on off the court, apparently they are good friends. I think we'll be seeing more of their rivalry for a good few years more.

Nothing exciting happening today, a lazy day in the garden beckons.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Hello everyone

Jan, good luck with the drill hunting; hope you find what you're looking for
Ally, glad you're having a good time x
Cruiser, ditto re not having energy to do much cleaning whilst it was hot. Got lots to catch up on now
Osc, sorry to hear about your friends husband; it's going to be tough for her :-(
Jen, enjoy the lazy garden day

WFH day for me; just as well as that meant I could have a bit of a lie in (well 1/2 hour longer LOL). Much needed given I ended up calling the fire brigade at 2am. Upstairs neighbour's smoke alarm was going off and she's away dog sitting. I couldn't see any smoke so was 99.9% sure it was a faulty alarm; but, given the weather we've been having and the fact that she has a loft etc, I decided to ring the non emergency number for advice and they dispatched a unit. Climbed in via an open window and confirmed all was OK and that the alarm was faulty. And brilliant service, they removed the old and put in a new one and 30 mins later were on their way. I kept on apologising for calling them out, but they said I did the right thing - rather safe than sorry.

Have a lovely day everyone x

Afternoon everyone :)

Glad you're having fun with Craig, Ally :) xx

Hope you find that drill Jan xx

It's been too hot for cleaning, Cruiser ;) xx

Sorry to hear about your friend losing her husband, Osc :( xx

Glad you enjoyed the tennis Jen xx

Oh gosh Ria, you definitely did the right thing there, most certainly better safe than sorry! xx

It's much cooler here today, which is nice really. Met my friend Em in town, bought a few bits and pieces - mostly cleaning stuff but also a nice t-shirt in M&S. Got a bit of ironing to do in a minute.

Love to all xx
