Our small barrel cactus, which we've had on the windowsill for years and has moved house with us at least once, possibly twice, yesterday started to produce a crown of purple flowers on the top - first time it's ever "bloomed"! :D

We went up to our daughter's house this afternoon and on the way back saw this gentleman.
He was gently weaving his way home from the pub, plaiting his legs as he went.
It struck me then, how long has it been since I saw that?
In the daytime in a village, many many years.
At one time it would have been unremarkable. Made me feel quite nostalgic.

We had a couple on a shaded windowsill - not too hot, not too cold. The ex used to prune the long branches (?) endlessly to keep them neat, but when they flowered they were so full of flowers and a sight to behold.
