"Earth 2.0 calling Earth 1"

How exciting would that be?

The Kepler telescope has found a planet some 60% bigger than Earth orbiting a sun similar to ours every 385 days. It is in what has become known as the "Goldilocks zone" where its temperature range is in the region where liquid water, an therefore life, could exist. It has been in the zone 1.5bn years longer than the Earth, plenty of time for many civilizations and technologies to have risen and fallen. It is only 1,400 light years away.

Earlier this year NASA published results of an experiment with its EmDrive that might have accidentally moved some particles at speeds faster than light. It might take a long, long time, but future generations might be able to make it work properly. If that happens Star Trek becomes real.

BTW Kepler has so far discovered 12 of these exoplanets.

No good will come of this. Before you know it we'll be overrun with little green men zapping us with ray guns and blowing up Parliament.

Hang on though.... :)
