Why wouldn't the State build power stations? As I said earlier the State can get funds cheaper and for longer terms than private companies. It does not have to pay dividends to shareholders and profits can be directed back into the core business - electricity generation.

I have not been, and never will be, a Labour supporter, but I am not against nationalisation, and I am not alone.

And why would the bad practices of the past come back? The laws to prevent them are already in place. Are you saying that Labour, under Corbyn, would repeal those laws? There is not one jot of evidence to say so.

As you have said, already unions are finding ways around the laws. With millions more in public employ, it will be easier to get that 51% vote. Things will slide, not because of Labour but because of how people perceive working for the government.

Also Labour will not plug the gaps the way the Tories do.

So things will slide. It's just my feeling about how society views working for the government. Profit or even a balanced budget is not part of the lexicon.

I don't get what you are afraid of.

It is workers who produce the wealth/profits for industries. Without them there is no productivity, no economy, no profit.

Shareholders nowadays are leeches - spivs. They are speculators not investors. Their sole aim is to make money from their businesses and their employees.

If these people lose their fortunes with their gambles on peoples lives I will lose no sleep, but if they make money and improve people's lives I will applaud them.

I do not see me putting my hands together too often.

Be careful what you wish for.

You may get it....

I'm not afraid of anything, nothing in this will materially affect me that much. I'm just anticipating 2 decades of moaning about the mess.

However, as it's unlikely that Corbyn, with his ideas, would be able to even make a coalition with SNP, I'm not so worried about it.

You'll find there are a lot more investors than just the spivs and they all have a vote.... If it comes down to it, you can be absolutely sure that all the major investors, including insurance companies who provide the pensions, will produce a long list of who's going to lose out of these nationalisations. It was easy in the 40's when only the truly rich had investments or stocks. Not so easy today with private pensions. Yet another Thatcher "equaliser" to break the class barriers in terms of action against businesses.
