The 3rd world is making big noises about the developed wold reducing emissions. But when Australia champions regular checks and revisions, India baulks...

Lost of noise, little follow through. Which is what Australia has complained about from the beginning. They refuse to commit to a course which may make them economically uncompetitive when other nations won't commit.

I know it's daft and damaging and, especially to Australia, likely to damage infrastructure. But in the current political climate I have some sympathy...

For the past year environmental correspondents the world over have been out-spinning Dervishes in the run up to Paris COP21.

Now reality kicks in and we can all see the cracks that had been papered over.

I find it disgusting, yet not surprising, that these delegates can talk about missing the safe 2ºC rise for one of 2.7ºC to 3ºC so easily. That's a miss of 50%. And there will not be much said about population, which is one of the major components of the problem.

At 3C you can forget about population, it will self resolve..... The resulting wars will also go way too far.

Perhaps Nuclear Winter is the best course for the survival of our species after all???

They are such idiots. They think that everything is "negotiable". They don't even read the literature, they just see a number and try to push it as high as they can. Which are their instructions.

Never mind the fact that the difference between 2.0 and 2.5 might be 500m of their population dead. No let's talk numbers as if they don't really mean anything but a negotiating stance to be taken.

Reality is that 2C is catastrophic. It's not the best case scenario which is an envelope which can be "pushed", it's the absolute ceiling which we must not pass if we expect our civilisation to survive....

But sometimes I wonder why we even try and tell them…. The lights are on but nobody is home..
