Our own "Christian" society used to treat women as "chattel" and it took us hundreds of years to get out of it. Women who were chaste and always respectable were respected, but women who refused to conform to what was expected were treated quite badly compared to our own norms today.
The way women are treated in society has changed radically in my lifetime. Groping, something men talked about and bantered about a lot during my youth, was considered either normal or just sport. The fact that I found it distasteful sometimes set me aside and ostracised me, especially in the Army. Yet, today, that same attitude can land you in jail.
Our own attitudes have changed radically in only the last 50 years. Trying to hold those who come from a society which treats women much as we did in the middle ages was never going to work and anyone who thought it would was a complete idiot.
This, as I see it, is not the problem. The problem is we actively advertise that those who come in don't need to change as their right to be "different" is paramount and overrides our right not to be treated the way their society says we should be. That is, in part, our fault. Had we been harsh and unbending they would have understood that as their culture is harsh and unbending. Being weak and ineffectual was never going to work. I'm often reminded of the stories of the American Indians who would torture a man to death to see how he resisted. It was not because they were white, it was what they did to every enemy.
What those immigrants fail to realise is that under that layer of wishy, washy liberalist BS, there is a layer of steel. It is something we have done to our young too. Protect them from the realities of life until they are 16 or 18 then suddenly thrown them in jail for things that were tolerated when they were younger.
It can't end well and adding more and more numbers to an existing problem is only going to make the bad ending a bigger problem.
There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand Binary and those who do not.
